AI Picks for August 12, 2026

9 tracks are racing today. Every card below has free AI-rated picks with full analysis.

How TrackWiz Rates a Horse Race

Every runner gets a single TrackWiz rating built from four groups of factors. The rating is what orders the picks on every card — the highest-rated horse in a race is the Win selection, and the gap between the top two ratings is what decides whether a race is worth a confident play or a pass.

Speed figures and recent form

Final times adjusted for track condition and distance, weighted toward a horse’s most recent starts rather than its career best.

Class and company

The level a horse has been competitive at, and whether today is a step up, a drop, or a lateral move against similar rivals.

Surface, distance and pace fit

How a horse has run at today’s surface and trip, and where it sits in the projected pace setup — a lone speed horse and a deep closer are rated differently in the same field.

Connections

Trainer and jockey strike rates in comparable spots, which matter most in maiden and claiming races where past-performance data is thin.

A rating is a starting point, not a guarantee — the point of publishing the top four rated horses per race is that you can see where the model is confident and where the field is genuinely open. More on how the ratings work.

AI Horse Racing Picks — Common Questions

Are the AI horse racing picks free?

Yes. Every card published on TrackWiz includes free AI-rated picks with full written analysis on selected races, with no account required. The remaining races on each card are part of a TrackWiz subscription.

How does an AI pick horses?

TrackWiz scores every runner on speed and recent form, class and the company it has been keeping, fit for today’s surface, distance and projected pace, and trainer and jockey strike rates in comparable spots. Those combine into a single rating per horse, and the ratings order the picks in each race.

What tracks are covered?

TrackWiz publishes AI-rated cards for thoroughbred and quarter-horse tracks across the US and Canada, including Saratoga, Del Mar, Gulfstream Park, Woodbine, Churchill Downs and dozens of regional tracks. Each track has its own picks page and archive.

When are today’s AI picks published?

Cards are published ahead of the first post time for that day’s racing. You can get each new card by email before post time, segmented to the tracks you follow.
