Latest Evangeline Free Picks
Evangeline is not racing today. Below are the free picks from the last Evangeline card, August 8, 2026.
Race 1
Maiden Special Weight · 4 1/2 fur · Dirt
A wide-open maiden sprint with a massive field of first-timers and limited runners, making the few horses with any speed figure history stand out sharply from the crowd.
Classy G draws the morning-line favoritism at 5/2 for good reason — our TrackWiz rating of 57.5 tops this entire field, and an avg speed figure of 54 matches the best numbers in the race. Trainer Joe O. Duhon saddles Elio J. Barrera, a reliable combination at this level. In a maiden sprint full of question marks, the horse with the strongest overall profile is worth backing at a reasonable price.
G's Soxy comes in with a TrackWiz rating of 56.67 and an avg speed figure of 53, giving her legitimate credentials in this wide-open field. Jansen Melancon picks up the mount, which is an upgrade in the saddle for trainer Patricia G. West. At 3/1 on the morning line, she represents solid place value and should be included in all exotic wagers.
Visions of War rates a clear third in our numbers with a 54.17 TrackWiz score and avg speed of 53, keeping pace with the top two picks on pure form. Trainer Chasey Deville Pomier sends her out at 9/2, which gives show bettors and exotic players a bit of extra juice. She makes sense as the third wheel in exacta and trifecta combinations.
Race 2
Claiming · 7 fur · Dirt
Two horses have separated themselves from the rest on our ratings, setting up a likely battle between the morning-line chalk and a lightly regarded runner who may offer better value.
Express Line tops our TrackWiz ratings at 85.73 — the highest mark in the field — and carries a 6% career win rate with an avg speed figure of 53. Trainer Dane Noel puts up Jamison Mudd, and this barn has sent out multiple horses today, showing they're live at the meet. At 5/2 on the morning line, this is our top selection in the race.
Toms Lucky Mo sits at a nearly identical 85.62 TrackWiz rating and gets 4% career wins with an avg speed of 51. This horse figures to be right there at the wire and offers 4/1 morning-line odds that provide real value if the top pick struggles. Trainer Shelton J. Zenon, Sr. keeps Kelvin Arana aboard for the connections.
Don't sleep on Phila Street despite the short 7/5 morning-line price — a 20% career win rate is the best in this field by a wide margin, and that kind of horse doesn't get shut out of the money often. The TrackWiz rating of 61.92 trails the top two, but consistency matters in claiming company. Trainer Juan Munoz Cano has Carlos Perez in the irons, a sharp pairing.
Race 3
Stakes · 1 mi · Dirt
Stakes company over a mile on dirt, and trainer Rylee Magnon controls a significant chunk of this field — but it's the two horses outside her barn that make this race genuinely intriguing.
Wabash is our top pick at 9/5 and earns it — a field-best TrackWiz rating of 86.26 combined with a 25% career win rate is as strong a profile as you'll find anywhere on today's card. Trainer Rylee Magnon also saddles Aoide and Elaina Reins, but Wabash is clearly the barn's A-horse here. Jockey Devin H. Magnon keeps the mount, which suggests connections are confident.
Can See Da Feet is fascinating at 9/2 — a 84.9 TrackWiz rating and a 16% career win rate are both excellent for this level, and Jamison Mudd is an active, in-form rider at Evangeline. Trainer Sherman Savoie also has Dromas in the field, but this is the main event from that barn. At nearly five times the favorite's payoff, the place price here is outstanding.
Channelfortynine brings an 11% career win rate and a TrackWiz score of 75.44, making this horse a legitimate contender rather than just a throwout. Carlos Perez is one of the more active jockeys on the card today, and trainer Ronnie P. Ward has been well-represented throughout the meet. At 5/2, this horse is worth using underneath in the exacta and trifecta.
