It's a clean summer Tuesday at Assiniboia Downs — partly cloudy skies and a comfortable 67°F means the dirt should be consistent underfoot, the kind of day where speed figures translate honestly and there are fewer excuses for underperformers. Seven races are on the board, and this card has some genuine teeth to it.
The highlight? A pair of Stakes races in Races 2 and 3 give the afternoon a stakes-day feel early on, with heavy morning-line favorites My Kid's Said No (2/5) and Evolution (2/5) both drawing a lot of ticket money. Ceepeegee is barn-mate to Wico under trainer Jared Brown, which tells you the connections have a real two-pronged attack going here. He carries a 68.16 TrackWiz rating and a 16% career win percentage, and at 5/2 on the morning line he's the public's second choice for a reason. Antonio Whitehall gets the call, and if Factory Drive has any issues early, Ceepeegee is well-positioned to capitalize.
Wico rounds out the Jared Brown barn entry and gives you a nice safety net in exactas and trifectas. A 64.27 rating and 15% career win clip aren't flashy, but this horse has shown enough consistency to land on the board, especially with Kerron Khelawan navigating from the rail. At 3/1, he's not a screaming value but he's legitimate depth in the exotics.

A short-field stakes at 5 furlongs looks like a near-certain coronation for one dominant runner, but the secondary spots are genuinely up for grabs among a group of lightly raced horses.
My Kid's Said No is in a class by herself here — a 50% career win rate is jaw-dropping for a stakes runner at any level, and her average speed figure of 56 is the best in the field. Trainer Tena Birdwell has her dialed in, and Shavon Townsend is one of the busier jockeys on the Assiniboia circuit. The 2/5 morning line tells you the public already knows — this is a horse you likely need to beat, not oppose, and she belongs in every multi-race exotic sequence you're building today.
She's a Maneater draws the rail for trainer Jared Brown and comes in without a career win percentage or speed figure on record — she's likely lightly raced and that makes her intriguing rather than alarming. Her TrackWiz rating of 53.33 is the second-best in the field, and at 5/1 she offers real place-pool value if she can track the favorite and put in a clean effort. Sven Balroop switches over from the win pick barn to ride her, adding a capable set of hands.
Thick checks in at a 48.33 rating for trainer Michael Nault, who also has Today's Agenda in the field — two-barn plays like this sometimes signal a trainer who's confident in a particular horse's fitness. Antonio Whitehall takes the mount, and at 8/1 on the morning line, Thick makes sense as show insurance in trifectas. Trainer Monique Goulet has her pointed right, and Antonio Whitehall is a sharp pilot who should put her in position from post two without burning too much energy early. At 2/5 she's a short price, but her margin of superiority over this field suggests she's worth including in all your vertical wagers even at the skinny number.
Here's where things get interesting — Wecanonlyimagine carries a 42% career win rate, the second-highest in the field, and that's an eye-catching figure that suggests this horse knows how to close deals. A 12/1 morning line means the crowd is significantly underestimating her based on our analysis, and Neville Stephenson is experienced enough to navigate a mile trip cleanly. Trainer Jared Brown is active on this card, and if the pace sets up favorably in the stretch, this one could be galloping past tired horses.
Short Speech at 30/1 is a sneaky inclusion here — a 55.0 TrackWiz rating actually lands him fourth-best in the field, and a 15% career win clip isn't nothing for a horse the crowd is dismissing.
