Assiniboia Picks & Predictions — June 30, 2026
Rain is falling at Assiniboia Downs today, June 30, 2026, and that changes everything. With temperatures sitting at 73°F and the dirt taking on moisture, the track is playing differently than it would on a dry summer afternoon — and if you're not factoring in the wet-track bias, you're already a step behind.
Seven races are on the program today, ranging from a sprint opener at 5 1/2 furlongs all the way out to a pair of 7 1/2-furlong tests that will reward horses with real stamina and a willingness to grind through a track that may be playing deep and tiring. The mix of Allowance, Allowance Optional Claiming, and Claiming conditions means there's plenty of class movement to exploit for sharp bettors.
Our TrackWiz models have combed through the full card, and there's genuine intrigue here — especially at the top of the ticket where Mystic Song drew our highest rating and should be a horse everyone is watching closely in the opener.
Best Bets
Race 1
Allowance Optional Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
A standout rating advantage meets a wide-open supporting cast in this 5½-furlong allowance optional claimer — the top of the morning line is vulnerable, and there's real value lurking underneath.
Mystic Song is the class of this field by a comfortable margin, carrying a TrackWiz rating of 88.54 — the highest in the race — and a staggering 66% career win rate that simply dwarfs the competition. Jockey Javaniel R. Patterson climbs aboard a horse who projects to match the field's best average speed while likely controlling or sitting close to the pace at 5½ furlongs. At 2/1 on the morning line, the odds are reasonable for a horse with this kind of résumé, and we're happy to make her our top selection.
Foothills Blvd. is the most interesting price horse in the race, sitting at 8/1 on the morning line despite carrying a 73.72 rating — second-best in the field — and a 33% career win percentage that's genuinely elite for a race like this. Roger Hewitt gets a horse who figures to be running on late, and if Mystic Song draws any heat on the front end, Foothills Blvd. could be the one picking up the pieces. At that price, she's well worth using underneath in exactas.
Girl From de Bayou posts a 72.28 TrackWiz rating — third in the field — and her 15% career win rate is respectable in this spot. She offers a hedge against the top two, and at 9/2 morning line there's enough value to include her in the bottom of your exotics. Antonio Whitehall keeps the ride, and this filly figures to be somewhere in the mix late over the 5½-furlong trip.
Race 2
Claiming · 6 fur · Dirt
Jersey Lillie looks like a clear class standout in this 6-furlong claimer, but the pace scenario could set up nicely for a closer or two to hit the board at a price.
Jersey Lillie tops our ratings at 88.83 and backs it up with a 27% career win percentage — the best in the field among the contenders. Christopher Roy Mamdeen has the call, and at 9/5 on the morning line the crowd is already on board, but the numbers justify the short price here. Her average speed of 54 ties for the top of the field, and in a 6-furlong dirt sprint she should be tracking close enough to the pace to put this away in the stretch.
Miss Z rates second in the field at 72.79 and draws the 2/1 morning line, suggesting the morning-line maker sees her as a legitimate threat to the top pick. Rachaad Knights has the mount, and with an 18% career win rate, she's a consistent type who should be in the hunt at a fair price. She's the logical place horse in exactas and worth backing in the win column if you're looking for a slight value upgrade.
Cressons Lil Charm slots in third on our ratings at 63.23 and is another horse with an 18% career win rate, making this a legitimately competitive supporting trio. Trainer Elton Dickey sends her out at 3/1, and Sven Balroop keeps the mount. She matches several rivals on average speed and figures to be competitive for a piece of the purse at a price that makes her a sensible show bet or bottom of the exacta.
Race 3
Allowance · 7 1/2 fur · Dirt
Trainer Jason Homer has three horses in this 7½-furlong allowance, including the two top-rated entries — a fascinating internal pace dynamic where Homer's own horses could set each other up.
Preachers Secret is our top selection here with a 87.81 TrackWiz rating, the best in the field, and Ciera Pruitt gets the ride. At 5/2 on the morning line, she offers fair value in what is a nuanced race with several of the same barn's horses involved. Her 25% career win rate is solid for the allowance level, and her average speed of 53 is right in line with the top of the field — at 7½ furlongs, a horse with her profile should be able to sit just off the early pace and be coming the right direction late.
Acquire is the morning-line favorite at 8/5 and carries a 50% career win rate — an eye-catching number — alongside a 59.0 TrackWiz rating. Also trained by Jason Homer, he gives the barn a strong one-two punch, and Shavon Townsend is a capable pilot for the distance. Whether he ends up as the pace setter or the stalker in what could be a complicated Homer-heavy scenario, he's too talented to leave off your tickets.
War Is Hell sits third on our ratings at 54.62 and offers some value at 5/1 on the morning line given that price doesn't usually come with this level of rating in a field this thin. Renaldo Cumberbatch takes the mount for trainer Jason Homer — yes, Homer saddles three horses here — which means pace help could come from within the barn itself. The 5% career win rate is a red flag, but the 5/1 odds more than compensate if he runs to his rating.
The first three races on today's card are fully unlocked for all TrackWiz readers, and they give you a solid cross-section of what Assiniboia is serving up. Mystic Song (2/1 morning line, 88.54 TrackWiz rating) headlines Race 1 at 5 1/2 furlongs — a sprint distance that will be decided in a hurry, and on a rain-soaked dirt track, early position and clean breaks matter even more than usual. Keep an eye on how much kick is left in the ground late.
Race 2 brings us Jersey Lillie at 9/5, the shortest price among our free-race top picks but carrying the highest TrackWiz rating of the free group at 88.83 — our models like her chances enough that the favorite price feels justified, not inflated. Then Preachers Secret steps in at 5/2 in the Race 3 Allowance going 7 1/2 furlongs, a distance where wet track stamina really comes into play. All three picks share a common thread today: horses that have the profile to handle a track playing with more give than usual.
