Monmouth Park Picks & Predictions — May 30, 2026
Happy Memorial Day weekend at Monmouth Park. We've got a clean, crisp Saturday at the Shore — 60 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and the turf course should be playing fast and fair all afternoon. Eight races on the card, and this one has some real meat to it.
What jumps out immediately: five of the eight races are run on the turf, and with conditions this pristine, grass form is going to translate beautifully. That's a big deal for handicapping today — horses who have been inconsistent on dirt but shine on a tight, well-maintained turf course deserve a hard second look. Keep that in mind as you work through the card.
We've also got three stakes races on the program, including a pair at 1 1/16 miles on the turf that figure to draw some sharp action. This is a legitimately fun card from top to bottom.
Best Bets
Race 1
Maiden Special Weight · 5 1/2 fur · Turf
A wide-open maiden turf sprint with a full field of first-timers and lightly-raced types — TrackWiz ratings tell a very different story than the morning line, making this a prime spot to beat the public.
Mo Vita tops the TrackWiz ratings at 73.19 — a significant margin over the rest of the field — despite going off at 10/1 on the morning line, which makes this a genuine value play. Trainer Joan Milne sends her out with jockey Jorge Luis Gonzalez, and the 5½-furlong turf distance looks ideal for a horse projecting as a quick-twitch type. In a maiden field where no horse has yet earned a career win, ratings separation this large is meaningful and shouldn't be ignored.
Mind Boggling is a fascinating overlay at 15/1 on the morning line, posting the second-highest TrackWiz rating in the field at 69.58. Trainer Silvino Ramirez and jockey Eliseo Ruiz form an under-the-radar combo, and this horse's rating suggests she's better than her morning line price implies — exacta and trifecta players should strongly consider using her.
Paris Carver is the public's choice at 5/2 with the top rating among horses at morning-line odds under 6/1, sitting at 57.5 with an average speed figure of 58 — the highest in the field. Javier Castellano is always dangerous on turf, and while TrackWiz's model prefers Mo Vita and Mind Boggling, Paris Carver's speed figures give her a legitimate path into the exacta or trifecta.
Race 2
Claiming · 1 1/16 mi · Dirt
A claiming route on the dirt where the TrackWiz ratings stack up in a clear tier — the top three rated horses are well clear of the rest of the field, setting up a potential exacta/trifecta box for structured bettors.
Brave Bear leads all comers with a TrackWiz rating of 88.54 and backs it up with a 17% career win rate — the highest in this field. Luis R. Rivera, Jr. gets the call and this horse has shown real consistency against similar company. The 2/1 morning line makes this the chalky choice, but the ratings justify the confidence — Brave Bear looks like the horse to beat going a route on the dirt.
Knox is the most natural alternative at 81.46 TrackWiz rating, posting an average speed figure of 53 while carrying an 8% career win rate. Trainer Oscar S. Barrera III puts Reylu Gutierrez up, a sharp combination at this level. Knox projects as a closer or presser type who could benefit if Brave Bear gets caught up in any early pace pressure.
Max's Glory rounds out the top three rated horses at 75.9, and Sonny Leon is one of the hotter jockeys on the Monmouth meet. A 10% career win rate is respectable at the claiming level, and trainer Chuck Spina keeps this horse fit. At 9/2 on the morning line, Max's Glory is a fair price to slot in underneath in exacta and trifecta plays.
Race 3
Stakes · 1 1/16 mi · Turf
A turf stakes at a mile and a sixteenth that looks top-heavy on paper, but a sharp overlay lurks in the middle of the program — the morning line doesn't reflect what the TrackWiz model sees here.
Ozara is a commanding favorite in TrackWiz's model at a rating of 88.54 and carries a jaw-dropping 50% career win rate. Manuel Franco aboard only strengthens the case — he's one of the elite turf jockeys operating in the Northeast right now. Trainer Miguel Clement has a knack for placing horses perfectly, and with an average speed figure of 55, Ozara projects well at this distance on the green.
Shotgun Wedding is the value alert of the race at 10/1 on the morning line despite a TrackWiz rating of 69.95 and a career win rate of 21%. Javier Castellano gets on for trainer Mark E. Casse — a Hall of Fame combination that doesn't show up at double-digit odds by accident. This one could steal a piece at a generous price, and the trifecta picture gets interesting if she runs her race.
Daisy Flyer has the best average speed figure in the field at 59 and sports a 25% career win rate, which speaks to real competitive ability. Jose Lezcano gives her a ground-saving trip from post 4, and trainer George R. Arnold II is well-acquainted with this class. At 7/2, Daisy Flyer is fairly priced and represents a reliable underneath option in all exotics.
Our three free races give you a nice cross-section of today's action. Race 1 kicks things off with a maiden special weight sprint on the turf, where our top pick Mo Vita is a generous 10/1 on the morning line — that's the kind of overlay that catches our eye in a wide-open maiden field. Race 2 moves to the dirt for a claiming mile and a sixteenth, and Brave Bear comes in as a well-supported 2/1 morning-line choice backed by a TrackWiz rating of 88.54 — one of the highest marks on the free portion of the card. Then Race 3 delivers the first stakes showdown of the day, also at 1 1/16 miles on the turf, where Ozara shares that same 88.54 TrackWiz rating and looks like a serious contender at a fair 2/1 price.
The throughline across these three races: pace scenario matters. With the turf playing quick, early speed that can settle and relax is going to have a real advantage over horses who burn energy forcing the issue. Brave Bear and Ozara both profile as horses who can sit just off the pace and pounce — exactly the style that thrives on a day like today.
