Ajax Downs is firing up the gates for a nine-race Wednesday card, and the conditions couldn't be much more cooperative — 76°F and partly cloudy means a fast, consistent dirt strip all afternoon. Quarter horse racing doesn't give you a lot of time to think, so having your homework done before the gates open is everything.

Today's card is a nice mix of Speed Index races, Trials, a Maiden, and a lone Allowance contest to cap the day.
