Remington Park Picks & Predictions — May 22, 2026
It's a full Friday afternoon at Remington Park — 11 races, all dirt, all short-format quarter horse sprints ranging from 250 to 350 yards. Partly cloudy skies and a comfortable 79°F should keep the track playing fast, which favors horses with sharp early punch. In quarter horse racing, conditions like these tend to reward the cleanest breakers out of the gate.
The card is a nice mix of maiden and open company, with a Starter Allowance and an Allowance race anchoring the back half. Our TrackWiz models identified a handful of standout ratings today, headlined by Pyc Fury Jm in Race 5 and Flying Afar in Race 10 — two horses with the numbers to be dangerous at their respective morning lines.
Three races are available free to all readers today. The rest of the card — eight races deep — is unlocked for TrackWiz subscribers. Here's a look at what's on the table.
Best Bets
Race 1
Maiden · 300 yd · Dirt
A wide-open 300-yard maiden sprint where two horses share nearly identical top ratings, setting up a genuine photo-finish battle at the top of the market.
First Speeding Bullet (#2) tops our TrackWiz ratings at 85.62 — just a sliver ahead of the morning-line favorite — and Roman Cruz gets the call from the saddle. In a maiden field with no prior speed figures to lean on, that rating edge matters, and the 4/1 morning line represents real value against a horse listed shorter on the board. Trainer Jesus Ruben Ruiz conditions this runner, and getting Cruz in the irons for a short 300-yard blast is the right combination to fire first-out.
R Tyme Wil Tell (#6) is the public's choice at 8/5 with a TrackWiz rating of 84.62 — barely a point behind our top pick — so this race could easily go her way. James A. Flores is one of the more active riders on the Remington Park quarter horse circuit, and trainer Dee Keener puts runners in position to fire fresh. At short odds she's tough to beat outright, but she's a comfortable inclusion underneath.
Jh Towanda (#3) checks in with a 53.33 rating and draws the 5/1 morning line, which offers a bit of overlay potential in a field this deep. Trainer Stacy Charette-Hill and jockey Cristian R. Esqueda are a familiar Remington pairing, and at 300 yards there's very little margin for error — any stumble up top opens the door for this one to hit the board.
Race 2
Maiden Claiming · 330 yd · Dirt
A tightly bunched maiden claiming sprint at 330 yards where the ratings separation between the top five horses is razor-thin — don't expect a runaway.
Ae Forty Five (#7) leads our TrackWiz ratings in this field at 55.00 and is spotted at a fair 4/1 on the morning line. Trainer Marco Adair Chavez-Gutierrez sends this one out with jockey Jonathan Dominguez, and in a maiden claiming context the combination of top rating and mid-range odds is the value sweet spot. With the field tightly clustered, that small edge in our model could be the difference in a blink-and-you-miss-it 330-yard dash.
Redd Kingdom (#5) rates second in the field at 53.33 and goes at 5/1 — essentially co-value with the top pick. Trainer Jorge L. Gonzalez and jockey Oscar Jaquez keep it straightforward here, and in a race where the top three rated horses are separated by fewer than four points, hitting the board is a realistic outcome for any of them.
Furr a Reason (#10) slots in third among our top-rated runners at 51.67 and is priced at 6/1, which makes for a workable exotic inclusion. Roman Cruz — one of the busiest riders on this card — climbs aboard for trainer Jesus Ruben Ruiz, a barn that has multiple entries across today's program. In a maiden claimer this competitive, a reliable jockey booking at a fair price is worth noting.
Race 3
Maiden Claiming · 330 yd · Dirt
A dominant top rating stands out sharply in this 330-yard maiden claimer — Dk Rod Jess looks like the class of the field and the public knows it, sending her out near even money.
Dk Rod Jess (#6) carries the highest TrackWiz rating on today's entire card through the first three races at 88.83, and the 9/5 morning line confirms the market sees it too. Trainer Valerie Torres keeps two horses in this race, but it's clear which one has the edge — Aram S. Martinez gets the mount, a solid pairing in a short sprint where gate speed is everything. In a maiden claiming field where the next-best rating is more than 25 points lower, this is as close to a clear-cut favorite as you'll find today.
Mystic Jessi (#1) rates second in the field at 63.12 — a genuine gap below the top pick but still well clear of the rest of the field. Trainer Eric Joel Hernandez Luna sends her out with Osvaldo Quinonez-Lopez, and at 4/1 there's reasonable value if Dk Rod Jess hits any trouble at the break. In a race where one horse dominates the ratings, the second-best option often finds its way into the exacta.
Corona Candy Tree (#4) checks in at 51.67 and represents a third distinct tier in this race, which is actually a decent spot for a show play at 6/1. Trainer Stacy Charette-Hill is a familiar name at Remington and fields runners regularly, and Miguel Josue Ramirez handles the riding duties. If the top two click, this one looks like a safe board horse for exotic coverage.
Our three free previews cover the opening trio of the card: Races 1, 2, and 3. First Speeding Bullet draws our attention in the 300-yard maiden opener, posting the highest TrackWiz rating of the free group at 85.62 — solid for a first-level maiden. In Race 3, Dk Rod Jess comes in as the morning-line favorite at 9/5 and backs it up with an 88.83 rating, the strongest number of the free picks. That kind of alignment between oddsmaker opinion and our model is worth noting — it doesn't always happen.
Race 2 is a bit softer on the ratings side, so we'll be upfront about that — it's a wide-open maiden claiming sprint where anything can happen in 330 yards. Still, Ae Forty Five at 4/1 gives you a reason to watch. Take the free previews as your foundation and build your ticket from there.
