It's a pleasant Monday afternoon at Mountaineer Park — partly cloudy skies, 80 degrees, and a breeze off the Ohio River that should keep the turf in solid shape. Brandon Tapara takes the mount, and while the avg speed of 51 trails Broken Sound slightly, the class profile here is solid enough to expect a top-two finish at minimum.

Miss Teca is our top pick at 10/1 morning line, and that's the kind of overlay that gets a handicapper's attention. She carries a 76.88 TrackWiz rating — best in the field by a meaningful margin — and trainer Efren Valencia has Luis Negron in the irons, a proven pairing at this level. Her career win rate of 11% is respectable in a claiming context, and an avg speed of 53 is right there with the field's best. If she fires her best effort, this is a generous price.
Shez Twisted rates 62.43 and offers a 5/1 morning line with Francisco Garcia aboard for trainer Carlos A. Lopez. She's run competitive numbers, posting a 53 avg speed, and her 7% career win rate suggests she hits the board more than she wins — which is exactly what you want from a place pick. Watch for her in the early pace of this short 5-furlong turf sprint.
Dancing Shadows comes in at 7/2 on the morning line for trainer Robert L. Inman, with Charle Oliveros taking the call. The 62.08 TrackWiz rating is right alongside Shez Twisted, but what stands out is a top avg speed figure of 55 in the field — that raw speed could translate to a stalking trip and a place or show finish in this sprint. Good exotic inclusion at a fair price.

Three horses stand well above the field in this turf mile claimer, and the race shapes up as a genuine battle between the top-rated trio — the question is whether the class order holds or one of the mid-tier longshots finds a soft pace to exploit.

Luis Alberto Batista rides for trainer Anthony Adamo, a capable combination at this level. Misterchilliwilli is the most intriguing horse in the race — a 32% career win rate is the best of any horse on today's full card, and a TrackWiz rating of 84.98 puts him right on J P Hellish's heels.
