Lethbridge RMTC Picks & Predictions — September 6, 2026
Lethbridge RMTC is rolling out a tight six-race card on Sunday, September 6, and the conditions are about as straightforward as it gets in southern Alberta — cloudy skies, 59°F, and a dirt surface that should play honest all afternoon. No rain in the picture, no mysterious speed bias to decode. Just horses and pace scenarios.
What makes today's card genuinely interesting is the stakes-heavy structure. Four of the six races carry stakes conditions, meaning you're watching some of the better horses in the Lethbridge circuit go head-to-head. That elevates the quality of the racing and, frankly, makes the handicapping more rewarding. Our top TrackWiz ratings cluster tightly — from Heysweetdarlin's card-best 90.00 in Race 3 down to Italian Griz at 79.79 in the closer — so there's real separation to work with.
Races 1 through 3 are free for all TrackWiz readers, and they happen to cover the heart of the stakes action. Races 4 through 6 — including a maiden sprint, an allowance, and a stakes finale — are part of our premium full-card breakdown.
Best Bets
Race 1
Stakes · 6 fur · Dirt
A stakes sprint with a clear top-two separated by rating points from the rest of the field — but watch for a pace duel between the chalk and the morning-line favorite that could set things up for a closer.
S S Nikki tops our TrackWiz ratings at 87.02 and comes in with a 25% career win rate — that's a legitimate strike rate in any company. Jockey Blandford Stewart has the call, and the 6-furlong dirt sprint looks like a natural fit for a horse with documented speed figures around 53. At 9/5 on the morning line, the market agrees this is the one to beat.
Candy May is just a hair behind at 86.35 on the TrackWiz scale, and at 7/2 she offers a touch of value if the top choice gets pressured early. Trainer Travis Robson saddles her alongside another runner in this field, suggesting confidence in her fitness. She's the type who could make a big move if the pace scenario heats up.
Daz Lin Command posted an average speed figure of 52 and carries a 25% career win rate — identical to our top pick — so she's no throw-in. The 7/5 morning line makes her the public's second choice, and Colten Mead has multiple runners here which indicates the barn is live. Use her in your exotics as a dependable underneath piece.
Race 2
Stakes · 6 fur · Dirt
Zipliner dominates the ratings in this stakes sprint, but a pair of double-digit longshots with surprisingly competitive ratings could complicate the exacta picture and create real value in the exotics.
Zipliner is the class of this field by TrackWiz numbers, checking in at 89.12 — a full 17 points clear of the next-best rated runner. Orlando Foster gets the mount, and trainer Colten Mead's barn has been active on today's card. The 8/5 morning line is a reasonable price for a horse who grades this far ahead of the competition.
Spirit of Charlie is the surprise of this race — an 8/1 shot with a rating of 71.87 that actually ranks second in the field by our model. Zero career wins on paper, but trainer Chandra Clarke is someone to respect when the numbers say the horse belongs. If Zipliner gets caught in traffic or has a troubled trip, Spirit of Charlie is positioned to grab a slice of the purse.
Trumps No Joke slots in third on our ratings at 70.11 and brings a 16% career win rate to the gate. Trevor Simpson is an experienced hand who should give this horse every chance to fire. At 6/1, including him on your show tickets and in trifecta keys offers solid overlay potential.
Race 3
Stakes · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
Heysweetdarlin is a standout in this 5½-furlong stakes, posting a near-perfect TrackWiz rating and going off at even money — but Fast Eh and Bare Back Jack are credible threats if the favorite gets over-bet.
Heysweetdarlin owns the field outright with a 90.00 TrackWiz rating — the highest in today's card — and a blistering 40% career win rate that speaks for itself. Going off at even money, the market is pricing this horse like a near-lock, and trainer Elly Rutherford has the barn in good order with multiple entries today. Trevor Simpson is a quality booking, and on a 5½-furlong dirt sprint, this one should be forwardly placed and tough to run down.
Fast Eh sits at 72.71 on our scale with a 24% career win rate — that's the second-best win percentage among today's starters in this race. Jose O. Rocha rides for trainer Robert Gwilliam, and at 3/1 there's genuine place value if the favorite doesn't wire the field. A horse who wins nearly a quarter of the time deserves respect in your exacta.
Bare Back Jack rates at 71.69, just a tick below Fast Eh, and the Elly Rutherford barn has two chances in this race — always a sign the trainer sends her horses ready. Orlando Foster is aboard, and with a 14% career win rate at 5/1 on the morning line, Bare Back Jack is worth including in trifecta tickets as a live show contender.
The free portion of today's card is genuinely loaded. S S Nikki opens things at 9/5 morning line in the Race 1 stakes sprint, Zipliner follows at 8/5 in Race 2, and Heysweetdarlin — our highest-rated horse on the entire card at 90.00 — goes off at even money in Race 3 over 5½ furlongs. Three straight stakes races, three morning-line favorites in the 8/5-to-even range. That kind of pricing tells you the fields are competitive, but our ratings give us enough confidence to have a top pick in each.
With the track playing fair on a cool, dry afternoon, pace scenario is going to matter. Keep an eye on how the first few races set up — if early speed is holding on the Lethbridge dirt today, that's a signal worth carrying into your later-race wagers. All three free picks are front-end types or stalkers with strong figures, so the bias read from Race 1 onward could sharpen your edge considerably.
