Gulfstream Park Picks & Predictions — October 2, 2026
Happy Friday from Hallandale Beach. Gulfstream Park puts up a nine-race card today under partly cloudy skies with temperatures sitting at a warm 86°F — classic early-October South Florida weather. No rain in the picture, which means the dirt should be fast and the turf course should be playing true, and that sets up a day where speed figures and pace projections carry real weight.
The card is a nice mix — four turf routes, four dirt sprints and routes, and a wide spread of conditions from Maiden Special Weights to Starter Optional Claimers. There's genuine value to hunt across the board, and our TrackWiz ratings flagged some standout numbers worth paying close attention to this afternoon.
Best Bets
Race 1
Maiden Special Weight · 1 mi · Turf
A wide-open maiden turf mile with no standout speed figures across the board — the top three TrackWiz-rated horses are separated by less than a point, making this a prime exotics race rather than a confident single.
Mitzman draws the morning-line favorite's attention of the handicapping community at 5/2, and our ratings back the price — a 57.5 TrackWiz score tops this field. Trainer Jose Francisco D'Angelo keeps two horses in this race, which signals confidence in his barn's condition. For a maiden turf mile, pace setup matters, and Mitzman's profile fits a horse that can rate off an honest pace and close. Jockey Leonel Reyes gives this barn an experienced hand on the turf.
Cid Campeador sits just behind Mitzman with a 56.67 rating and lands at a generous 3/1 morning line in a field where the top two are this close. Trainer Antonio Sano — who also saddles Fight and Pray — clearly has a strong hand here, and two-barn confidence in a race is worth noting. With an average speed figure of 52, this horse has shown some early ability and should be included in all exotics.
Fight and Pray posts the second-best average speed figure in the field at 55 and rates a 54.17 on our scale — that's real turf ability in a Maiden Special Weight field where several runners have gaps in their figures. At 9/2, there's legitimate value here for exotics players looking for a third leg. Sano training this horse alongside Cid Campeador gives the barn a two-pronged attack that should keep the race very interesting.
Race 2
Claiming · 6 1/2 fur · Dirt
Two horses — With Kindness and Miss Magical — dominate the TrackWiz ratings at 86.35 and 86.03 respectively, turning this six-and-a-half-furlong dirt claimer into a near-photo finish between a pair of standouts while the rest of the field trails well off.
With Kindness earns the top TrackWiz rating in the field at 86.35 and goes at a workable 7/2 morning line despite being our top selection. Jockey Samy Camacho pilots a horse for trainer Sandino R. Hernandez, Jr. — a barn worth keeping an eye on throughout the card. An average speed figure of 55 is solid for this level, and the 6.5-furlong dirt distance suits horses that can press or stalk an honest pace. The value edge over the nearly identically-rated Miss Magical makes With Kindness the preferred single.
Miss Magical and With Kindness are practically running mates in the ratings, but Miss Magical opens at a tighter 5/2, making her slightly less appealing as the win pick while still being an essential place ticket. Jonathan Ocasio gets the call for trainer Bobby S. Dibona, and an average speed figure of 54 is consistent at this level. If the pace sets up and With Kindness tires, Miss Magical has every tool to benefit.
Role Play checks in with a 77.73 TrackWiz rating — well clear of the remaining field — and a 10% career win rate at 3/1 gives this horse legitimate show credentials. Trainer Beau J. Chapman sends out a horse that Pedro Pena will steer from post 4, a neutral spot in a six-and-a-half furlong dash. If the two top-rated horses set each other up, Role Play is ideally positioned to collect a piece.
Race 3
Maiden Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
Senta Says and Diamond's Honor sit in a class of their own at the top of the TrackWiz ratings — both clearing 85 — while the rest of this maiden claiming field on dirt is scattered and hard to trust, setting up a potential 1-2 punch.
Senta Says opens as the 9/5 morning-line favorite and backs that price with an 85.92 TrackWiz rating — the highest in the field. Trainer Saffie A. Joseph, Jr. is one of the sharper conditioners in the Gulfstream ecosystem, and Micah J. Husbands gets a live mount here. An average speed figure of 55 is among the best in the race, and for a maiden claimer at 5.5 furlongs on dirt, raw speed matters — Senta Says appears to have it.
Diamond's Honor is the logical second choice at 4/1, posting an 85.62 rating that's essentially a dead heat with Senta Says. Pedro Pena takes the mount for trainer J. David Braddy, and an average speed figure of 54 is right in range. The value here is real — two horses this close in the ratings rarely go off with this kind of gap in their morning lines, so Diamond's Honor in the place spot is a smart play.
Camm's Girl is the clear third option at 62.19 — a healthy gap ahead of the rest of the field — and is priced at 7/2, making her a reasonable show investment. Trainer Mariam Vargas sends out a horse with an average speed figure of 52, modest but functional in maiden claiming company. Leonel Reyes knows this track well and should have no trouble placing this horse competitively heading into the stretch.
Three races are open to every TrackWiz reader today, and they give you a solid foundation to start building your card. Mitzman opens the show in Race 1 on a mile of turf at morning-line odds of 5/2 — a reasonable price for a horse our analysis likes in a Maiden Special Weight on a course that should be playing fair. In Race 2, With Kindness comes in with a TrackWiz rating of 86.35, one of the stronger marks you'll see in a dirt claiming sprint all afternoon, and at 7/2 on the morning line there's enough juice here to make it interesting. Race 3 on the dirt at 5½ furlongs brings us Senta Says, who opens at 9/5 and carries an 85.92 rating — short odds, but the numbers back the favoritism here.
One thing to note tying these three together: the early part of this card is skewed toward shorter, quicker contests on dirt, which means front-end speed could be at a premium in those races. Watch the pace scenarios closely — horses that can get to the lead or sit a comfortable second without burning out early look especially appealing today.
