It's a gorgeous Sunday at Gulfstream Park — clear skies, 84 degrees, and the kind of South Florida weather that makes you wish you were parked in the apron with a cold drink and a fresh program. Conditions don't get much better than this for a full nine-race card, and the footing should be fast on the dirt and firm on the turf, which matters a lot when you're trying to read pace scenarios and project trip trouble.
Today's card covers the full spectrum — a pair of maiden events to kick things off, several claiming and optional claiming bouts in the middle stretch, and a couple of allowance races on the turf to close out the afternoon. There's something here for every kind of player, whether you're hunting overlays in the claiming ranks or building a multi-race sequence. Nine races, nine puzzles — let's break them down.

Race 1
Maiden Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
A wide-open maiden claiming sprint on the dirt where TrackWiz's model finds a clear class edge at the top — but the morning line suggests the crowd isn't fully on board yet.
Wheelhouse earns the top TrackWiz rating in this field at 87.81 — a full 30 points clear of the next-best horse — and backs it up with the highest average speed figure at 56. Sonny Leon is a capable pilot who knows how to place a horse in a short field, and trainer Joseph F. Orseno gives this runner a professional foundation. Going postward at 5/2 on the morning line, Wheelhouse represents fair value relative to the edge our model sees here.
Eminent Power checks in with a 57.96 TrackWiz rating and an average speed figure of 55, slotting in as the second-best speed horse in the race. The 6/1 morning line makes this an appealing place play in exotics — Miguel Angel Vasquez has the experience to put this horse in a good spot early in what figures to be an honest pace. A logical second banana if Wheelhouse is the winner.
Braveness opens as the morning-line favorite at 3/1 under Yolber Torres for trainer Jose Francisco D'Angelo, carrying a 56.67 TrackWiz rating that keeps this runner very much in the mix. The rating is tight with Eminent Power, making the win order between the two somewhat debatable — but Braveness is a solid hedge in exacta and trifecta coverage given the class of the field.

Maiden Claiming · 1 mi · Turf
A maiden claiming mile on the turf with a standout at the top of the ratings, but the 3/1 second choice isn't far behind — and on grass, class alone doesn't always tell the whole story.
Tulio is the horse to beat here with a dominant TrackWiz rating of 85.62 — more than 28 points above the third-best horse in the field. Leonel Reyes gets the call under trainer Fausto Gutierrez, and the 4/1 morning line is a touch generous given how clearly Tulio stands out on the numbers. On a one-mile turf route, pace control and tactical positioning will be key, and Reyes is a rider who understands the turf game at Gulfstream.
Hidden Danger is the second-highest-rated runner at 56.67 and opens at 3/1 on the morning line, making this horse a likely crowd favorite. Samy Camacho handles the ride for trainer Gustavo Delgado, and with an average speed figure of 54, Hidden Danger has the tools to get involved late on a one-mile turf trip. A logical place horse if Tulio dominates at the front.
Bandari rates third in the field at 54.17 and gets Renzo Rojas in the irons for trainer Herbert Miller. The 9/2 morning line gives this runner just enough value to warrant inclusion in your trifectas — the average speed figure of 53 is respectable for this maiden turf field and keeps Bandari in contention for a minor award.
Race 3
Claiming · 1 1/16 mi · Dirt
The morning-line favorite doesn't match up with the TrackWiz top-rated horse, creating a potential value opportunity at the top of the exotic pools in this all-female claiming route on the dirt.
Thunder Princess earns the top TrackWiz rating in the field at 84.9 and opens at a juicy 9/2 on the morning line — well above the 9/5 chalk. Diego A. Herrera takes the mount for trainer Fernando Abreu, and with an average speed figure of 53 and a career win rate of 7%, this filly has shown she can fire on her best days. Our model's gap between Thunder Princess and the morning-line favorite makes this one of the more intriguing value plays on the card.
Slewty Princess rates second in the field with an 81.23 TrackWiz score and a solid 16% career win rate — the best in this field among the top-rated horses. Jose Francisco D'Angelo is a trainer who keeps consistent stock, and Leonel Reyes brings experience around Gulfstream's one-turn dirt. At 5/1 on the morning line, this filly offers real place value in the exotics.
Imperia Blue is the 2/1 morning-line favorite for trainer Antonio Sano — a sharp conditioner — and holds a 76.8 TrackWiz rating that makes the chalk deserving of respect. Samy Camacho rides, and the 12% career win rate provides a baseline of competence. Our model ranks Imperia Blue third, but the pedigree of connections alone warrants a show slot in your coverage.
Our three complimentary picks today are spread across different surfaces and condition levels, which gives us a nice early read on how both the dirt and turf are playing. Race 1 opens things up on the dirt at 5½ furlongs, where Wheelhouse (morning line 5/2) tops our TrackWiz ratings at 87.81 — a strong number for a maiden claimer, suggesting a horse that should be well clear on ability if he fires his best. On the turf in Race 2, Tulio (4/1 ML) gets a shot at the classic one-mile maiden distance, and at that morning line there's some value to explore if the turf plays to his style. Race 3 brings us back to the dirt for a claiming mile and a sixteenth, where Thunder Princess (9/2 ML) posted an 84.90 TrackWiz rating in a race that looks very winnable at the right price.
One angle worth watching across the early dirt races: if the rail shows any advantage in the first few sprints, horses with inside post draws in the later dirt routes could be actionable overlays.
