Trainer John Grabowski and jockey Keiber Coa is a combination that commands attention on a short sprint, and while a 9% career win rate seems modest, the rating strongly suggests Observer has been running against tougher and is well-placed here. At the right price, this is the value play of the early card.
Lady Banker (7/2) rates second among the closers at 75.35 and pairs trainer Ralph D'Alessandro with jockey Emanuel De Diego — a combo that knows how to place a horse for maximum result. The 4% career win rate might give pause, but TrackWiz ratings are based on overall performance quality, and this horse's figures say she belongs. A 28% career win rate at the allowance level speaks for itself, and trainer Jonathan Buckley hands the reins to Kevin Navarro, a capable rider who can manage pace on a one-mile dirt surface. At 5/2, this isn't a big price, but the class edge here is real and the confidence level is high.
Last Glory (7/2) rates at 56.73 and carries a 12% career win percentage, which is respectable for allowance company. Trainer Ralph D'Alessandro uses Emanuel De Diego, and De Diego has been active on this card — horses ridden by busy jockeys in good form often run sharp. Last Glory looks like a solid underneath piece in exactas and trifectas behind Ekwanok.
Book of Wisdom (5/1) lands third in our ratings at 52.84, just edging out the morning-line favorite Katie King for a spot on the show ticket. A 53 average speed figure is on par with the field's middle tier, and trainer Dana Saul knows how to have a horse ready. At 5/1, Book of Wisdom offers better show-ticket value than the favorites and is worth a small exotic inclusion.
