Delaware Park Picks & Predictions — October 10, 2026
Delaware Park rolls out an 8-race card this Saturday afternoon under cloudy skies and a comfortable 70°F — ideal conditions for a solid day at the window. The dirt should be playing fast and consistent, which matters plenty when you're trying to project pace scenarios across a card heavy on sprint distances.
Five of the eight races go at six furlongs or shorter, so speed and early positioning are going to be recurring themes. But the card gets more interesting in the back half, with a pair of one-mile allowance and allowance optional claiming tests that should bring out some of the better horses on the grounds. Keep your eyes on Races 6 and 7 — that's where the real class questions get answered.
TrackWiz has full analysis on all 8 races, with the first three free for every reader. Let's dig in.
Best Bets
Race 1
Maiden Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
A wide-open maiden claimer where first-time starters dominate the field and TrackWiz ratings separate the contenders from the also-rans by a meaningful margin.
Pivot Point (2) draws the morning-line favoritism at 2/1 for good reason — our TrackWiz rating of 58.33 tops this field by a clear margin. Trainer Cathal A. Lynch has a knack for placing horses in spots where they can fire first out of the gate, and Paco Lopez in the irons is as reliable a pick-up as you'll find at Delaware. With no career speed figure to dissect, this is a projection play — but the model likes what it sees.
Take Charge Sonic (8) carries a 56.67 TrackWiz rating and posts an average speed figure of 54 — tied for the top mark in the field alongside Doncella. Trainer Jesus Rodriguez pairs with Edgar Villasmil, and at 3/1 on the morning line, this one figures to be right there in the mix at the top of the stretch.
Positano Princess (4) is the second Breen entry in this race, sitting at 4/1 on the morning line with a 55.0 rating. She pairs well in trainer Kelly Breen's barn alongside stablemate Bustin Border, and Julio A. Hernandez gives her a competent rider. Her average speed of 52 is in the middle of the pack, but she's worth including in exotics as a hedge against a field that's still finding its legs.
Race 2
Starter Optional Claiming · 6 fur · Dirt
The 9/5 morning-line favorite isn't the top-rated horse here — Warda at 5/2 leads TrackWiz's model by a healthy margin, setting up a potential upset of the chalk and a juicy exacta.
Warda (2) is the class of this field by our numbers, posting an 87.81 TrackWiz rating that dwarfs even the 9/5 morning-line favorite. She carries a 16% career win rate and an average speed figure of 55, and trainer Jose S. Rodriguez gets the call with Jesus M. Rios doing the steering. At 5/2, she offers real value given the model's conviction.
Always Angels (3) is the public's choice at 9/5, and a 76.23 rating says she belongs here — just not at the top of the order per our model. With a 16% career win rate and Matilda Burnham up for trainer Mario Roberto Lopez, she's a legitimate place contender in a race where pace could bunch things up late.
Bulle Babe (6) is the value piece in this race, posting an 8/1 morning line with a 63.59 rating that actually outscores the field below her. Her 30% career win rate — the second-highest in this field — tells you she knows how to find the winner's circle, and trainer Daniel Velazquez has her in a spot where she can sneak into the exotics.
Race 3
Claiming · 6 fur · Dirt
Chappelle looks like the class standout in a nine-horse claiming field, but Calling On Heaven and Next Level Beau both bring enough quality to make the exacta worth playing multiple ways.
Chappelle (4) matches Warda's 87.81 TrackWiz rating from Race 2, easily the best number in this field. Trained by Jamie Ness and piloted by Emanuel Rosario, he carries a 25% career win rate and a top-tier average speed figure of 55. At 5/2, the morning line respects his form — and so do we.
Calling On Heaven (3) is a legit threat to complicate things at 7/2, with a 79.05 rating and the top average speed of 55 in the field. Trainer Josue Arce teams with Camila Hargrove, and a 16% career win rate is solid for this level. If Chappelle gets pressured early, this one could be closing fastest.
Next Level Beau (5) is the eye-catcher here — a staggering 50% career win rate that absolutely jumps off the page. Paco Lopez takes the mount for Wayne Potts, and while the 54.17 TrackWiz rating lags behind the top two, that win percentage suggests a horse that knows how to compete when conditions are right. Worth a spot in your trifecta.
Our free picks kick off the card in style. Pivot Point draws our top nod in Race 1, a maiden claiming sprint at 5½ furlongs — a TrackWiz rating of 58.33 reflects a wide-open field where finding the edge is tricky, so we'll walk you through exactly why this one stands out. Races 2 and 3 are where confidence really builds: Warda and Chappelle each carry identical TrackWiz ratings of 87.81 against their respective fields, and both go at 6 furlongs on dirt. High ratings in sprint races on a surface playing true is a combination we always respect.
The connecting thread across all three free races is straightforward — horses with demonstrated early speed on a track that should reward it today. If there's a pace bias developing as the card unfolds, we'll flag it in our live updates inside the TrackWiz app.
