Remington Park Picks & Predictions — October 17, 2026
Remington Park is putting on a 9-race card this Saturday under ideal fall conditions — clear skies and a crisp 58°F that should keep the Dirt playing true and fast all afternoon. With a mix of Claiming, Maiden Special Weight, and Starter Allowance company spread across Dirt and Turf, there's plenty of ground to cover whether you're looking to cash a single or build a multi-race ticket.
The card splits neatly between sprint and route action, with five of the nine races going a mile or longer — a pace-shape puzzle that rewards serious preparation. TrackWiz analysis flagged several spots where morning-line favorites look vulnerable, and a couple of price horses worth including in your tickets.
Three races are open to all readers today, and our top-rated pick on the card sits in Race 3 with Momacya drawing the morning line at 5/2. The full nine-race breakdown is available to TrackWiz subscribers.
Best Bets
Race 1
Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
A competitive 5.5-furlong dirt claimer with a clear TrackWiz ratings edge at the top, but several horses bunched closely enough to make exacta combinations interesting.
Njustlikethat tops our TrackWiz ratings at 86.35 — a meaningful gap over the rest of the field — and posts the field's best average speed figure at 55. Obed Sanchez gets the call, and trainer Steve F. Williams has two horses in here, which usually signals confidence in the barn. The morning line of 7/2 is fair, and if this horse breaks cleanly from post 7, the numbers say it runs them down in the stretch.
Brody's Chrome is an interesting counter-punch at 8/1 on the morning line. The TrackWiz rating of 74.7 is the second-best in the field, and that average speed figure of 56 is actually the highest of any horse in the race. Ramon A. Vazquez is a capable pilot, and if Njustlikethat gets into any trouble, Brody's Chrome has the raw speed to make life difficult.
Gonnabeagoodday brings the Steven M. Asmussen/Erik Asmussen trainer-jockey combo — always worth noting at any track. The 5/2 morning line makes it the public's choice, and at 72.94 on the TrackWiz scale it's firmly in the top tier. With a career win percentage of just 8%, however, it seems better suited for the bottom of your tickets than the top.
Race 2
Maiden Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
An 11-horse maiden claimer full of first-time starters and lightly-raced maidens — expect a pace meltdown early and a closer with any figures at all to be live at the wire.
Triple Blessings leads our TrackWiz ratings at 55.83 and posts the highest average speed figure in the field at 55 — significant in a race where three entrants have no speed figure at all. Tyler W. Bacon gets the mount, and trainer Justin R. Evans also has Last Call Cowboy in here, suggesting he likes his chances with both. The 7/2 morning line is a reasonable price for the most credentialed figure in a wide-open maiden field.
Bear Down Eleven comes in at 4/1 on the morning line with a solid TrackWiz rating of 55.0, virtually neck-and-neck with the top pick. The fact that no prior speed figure is listed could mean this is a first-time starter with workout buzz — trainer Austin Gustafson also runs Maximus Flatter, another sign the barn is sending a strong pair. If Bear Down Eleven breaks alertly, it's got the rating to run a big number fresh.
Expect a Preacher rates third on our board at 53.33 and has shown an average speed figure of 53 — modest but meaningful in this spot. Mario Fuentes takes the mount for trainer Jesse Sauceda, who also runs Mr. Candy Man, pointing to some stable confidence here. At 5/1, Expect a Preacher offers genuine value as a show bet or as the third leg of an exacta wheel in a race this unpredictable.
Race 3
Claiming · 6 fur · Dirt
The top half of this field is legitimate — a clear 1-2 in the TrackWiz ratings with two big-number horses, but a pair of double-digit morning liners with solid credentials could steal a piece of the pie.
Momacya sits atop the TrackWiz ratings at 87.81 — the highest mark in this race — and carries a 16% career win rate over 6 furlongs of dirt, exactly the conditions on offer today. Jose L. Alvarez gets the call for trainer Mark W. Buehrer, and the 5/2 morning line correctly identifies this as the class of the field. The average speed figure of 54 is solid; don't overthink it — when the top-rated horse in a claiming field is this far ahead of the pack, you play it.
Beverly Diner is nearly as strong at 84.67 on our ratings and goes with the powerful Asmussen stable — Steven M. Asmussen conditions, Erik Asmussen rides. That's a team that knows how to place horses and shows up to run, and a 13% career win rate backs up that the horse is competitive at this level. At 7/2, this is a prime place-horse candidate and deserves to be part of any exacta with the top pick.
Lucy's Halo catches the eye at 5/1 with the highest career win percentage in this race at 23% — that's a horse that knows how to find the wire. The TrackWiz rating of 77.98 ranks third in the field, and Weston Hamilton has a live mount here. The average speed figure of 52 is a tick behind the leaders, but win percentage that high suggests it saves ground and runs an honest race more often than not.
Today's three free races all take place on the Dirt at sprint distances — 5½ furlongs in Races 1 and 2, and 6 furlongs in Race 3. That consistent surface and distance profile is useful: if there's any early-speed bias developing on the Remington strip this afternoon, it will show up in these races first. Keep an eye on how the leaders are faring through the stretch before you lock in your later bets.
Njustlikethat (Race 1, 7/2) and Momacya (Race 3, 5/2) both carry strong TrackWiz ratings north of 86, making them the anchors of the free card. Triple Blessings (Race 2) enters a wide-open Maiden Claiming field where pace shape and trip luck can matter as much as raw ability — worth treating with a touch of humility on your tickets. Overall, the free card gives you a solid read on the track surface before the premium races kick off.
