Remington Park Picks & Predictions — October 10, 2026

9 racesAll Remington Park picks

It's a gorgeous — and hot — Saturday at Remington Park. Clear skies and 86°F temperatures greet a nine-race card that leans heavily on the grass, with turf routes and sprints woven throughout the afternoon. That kind of firm, fast turf can be a great equalizer, rewarding horses with natural grass ability over raw speed figures alone.

Today's card is a nice blend of maiden claiming action to kick things off, a couple of allowance spots where class matters, and claiming races across both surfaces that should generate some real wagering heat. Three of today's nine races are available free to all TrackWiz users — a solid starting point for casual players before diving deeper.

Best Bets

Race 1

Maiden Claiming · 1 1/16 mi · Turf

A maiden claiming field on the turf where zero career wins across the board creates a true question mark, but the ratings gap between the top three and the rest of the field is sharp enough to narrow it down fast.

win9SwiftliketaylorML 8/5

Swiftliketaylor draws the 9 post but owns the field's top TrackWiz rating at 89.12 — a meaningful separation from the next-best runners — and her average speed figure of 55 ties for the field's highest. Trainer Ronnie E. Cravens III sends her out as the 8/5 morning line chalk, which tells you the connections are confident. The 1 1/16-mile turf trip suits horses who can relax early and finish, and with no one else in this group showing a dominant pace profile, she should get a clean trip from the outside post. Jockey Ernesto Valdez-Jiminez climbs aboard a live favorite here.

place6Iona McKinzieML 4/1

Iona McKinzie posts a 79.95 rating — second best in the field — and trainer W. Bret Calhoun is one of the sharper conditioners on the Remington circuit. At 4/1 on the morning line, there's real value here if the favorite hits any trouble in a maiden field where unpredictable moves are the norm. She also carries a 53 average speed figure, right in the pack, meaning she won't be spotted much early.

show2AkkadeviML 6/1

Akkadevi checks in third on our ratings at 70.91, a solid step above the mid-pack and trained by Robertino Diodoro, who handles turf routes with confidence. Her 54 average speed figure is the second-highest in the field, giving her a legitimate speed edge to complement her rating. At 6/1, she's a reasonable exotics anchor who could easily hit the board in this wide-open maiden group.

Race 2

Claiming · 1 mi · Dirt

A dirt-mile claiming race with a genuine ratings cluster at the top, where Barbies Fury, Mrazek's Old Dream, and Tate Batz are separated by less than eight points — this one figures to be contested all the way to the wire.

win3Barbies FuryML 9/2

Barbies Fury tops our ratings at 84.90 for trainer Wade Rarick and carries a career win rate of 16% — sturdy for a claiming runner at this level. Her 53 average speed figure is respectable around one turn on the dirt, and jockey Richard E. Eramia gives Rarick a capable pilot who knows how to position on this strip. At 9/2 on the morning line, there's genuine value for a horse sitting at the top of the TrackWiz ratings in a field this competitive.

place8Mrazek's Old DreamML 7/2

Mrazek's Old Dream rates just a tick below the top pick at 82.87 and gets Geovanni Franco — the go-to rider for the powerful Robertino Diodoro barn — in the irons. The 3% career win rate is the one flag, but the rating and the trainer-jockey connection are hard to ignore; Diodoro doesn't waste Franco on soft spots. At 7/2, she could easily be odds-on by post time, making her a must-use in place exotics.

show2Tate BatzML 5/2

Tate Batz at 5/2 morning line sports an 11% career win rate and a 77.69 rating, putting him solidly in the third tier of this field. Trainer Justin R. Evans saddles two horses today — always worth noting as a sign of barn confidence — and Ronnie Huckaby gets the call, a rider who grinds out solid results at Remington. At the likely short price he'll go, he's best used as a show safety net in a potentially chalky tri.

Race 3

Claiming · 7 1/2 fur · Turf

Expo City stands out as a clear class figure in this turf claiming sprint, but the rest of the field is bunched tightly enough on ratings that the exacta and trifecta underneath could go several ways.

win3Expo CityML 5/2

Expo City owns the field's highest TrackWiz rating by a wide margin at 87.81 — more than 37 points clear of the third-place horse — and Floyd Wethey Jr. gets the mount for trainer Dick Cappellucci, who also runs C.P.A. Jim in the same race. A 7% career win rate might give pause, but on the turf at 7 1/2 furlongs, speed figures and pace profile matter more than raw win percentage in claiming company. At 5/2 on the morning line, this is our top play with confidence.

place5RemittanceML 9/2

Remittance comes in with a 50.93 rating and an 11% career win rate, occupying the second tier of this field along with a couple of others. Trainer Mindy J. Willis keeps the horse in a similar spot she's competed at before, and Stewart Elliott is a experienced hand who can navigate traffic in turf sprints. At 9/2, she represents fair value as a place play behind the standout figure.

show7C. P. A. JimML 4/1

C.P.A. Jim rates at 48.85 — essentially a coin flip with Remittance for second-best — and the Cappellucci barn has two shots at the trifecta today, which can sometimes signal the trainer knows which horse fits the race best. Rene Diaz takes the mount, and at 4/1 morning line, Jim offers solid show value in trifecta construction. His 8% career win rate is modest but the class level and surface fit work.

Our three free races cover the first half of the card and offer a little something for everyone. Swiftliketaylor opens the day on the turf in Race 1 at an 8/5 morning line — she's our top-rated horse of the free set with an 89.12 TrackWiz rating and looks the part in this maiden claiming field. In Race 2, Barbies Fury shifts things over to the dirt for a one-mile test, a value spot at 9/2 on the morning line. And in Race 3, Expo City gets the nod on the turf sprint at 5/2 — a pace scenario we like given the expected early speed from the outside.

The throughline across all three free races: track conditions today favor closers on the turf (firm footing rewards ground-saving runs) and front-runners on the dirt where the track has been playing fast. Keep that bias in mind as you build your tickets early in the card.
