Remington Park Picks & Predictions — October 8, 2026
It's a beautiful Thursday afternoon at Remington Park — clear skies, 85°F, and a fast dirt surface that should reward speed horses throughout the day. Nine races are on the docket, mixing claiming action with a pair of allowance finishes and a turf closer in Race 9 that gives the card a nice late pop.
The dirt is where the bulk of today's money gets made, with seven of nine races run over the main track. Conditions like these tend to favor early pace — horses that can get out cleanly and put pressure on the lead early have a real edge when the footing is this good. Keep that in mind as you work through the card.
Our TrackWiz models have combed through every race, and there are some genuinely interesting angles to exploit today — including a pair of 3/1 shots we like in the middle of the card and a potential longshot in Race 6 that deserves a close look at 6/1.
Best Bets
Race 1
Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
A wide-open claiming sprint with legitimate top-end ratings spread across three contenders — expect a real pace battle at 5½ furlongs on the Remington dirt.
Go Purple draws the top TrackWiz rating in the field at 86.35 and checks in at a very reasonable 7/2 on the morning line. With a 21% career win rate, this horse knows how to finish the job, and trainer Austin Gustafson sends her out in good form. At a sprint distance where pace scenarios matter, Go Purple's overall profile is clearly the class of this field.
She's a Bond Too leads all horses in this race with the highest average speed figure (56) and a TrackWiz rating of 76.54 — the second-best mark in the field. Jockey Weston Hamilton gets the call for trainer M. Brent Davidson, and at 9/2 there's real value in the place pool. She's the most likely horse to run Go Purple down if the favorite hits any trouble.
Norma Jean Bling at 8/1 is a genuine value play in the exotics — a 70.79 TrackWiz rating and a 21% career win rate give her legitimate credentials in this spot. Richard Eramia riding for Tim Dixon is a pairing worth noting. She's not the flashiest name on the card, but at those odds she's worth threading into tri tickets all day.
Race 2
Claiming · 6 1/2 fur · Dirt
Ante Up Tony looks like the class standout in a 6½-furlong dirt claimer, but Lasko Lady and Divine Wind make the exacta worth widening.
Ante Up Tony carries the field's top TrackWiz rating of 84.90 and goes postward at a generous 9/2 despite being the most analytically sound horse in the field. Trainer Scott E. Young and jockey Floyd Wethey Jr. team up in what looks like a well-spotted effort. The 12% career win rate is modest, but the rating edge over the competition here is substantial — this horse is better than his odds suggest.
Lasko Lady's TrackWiz rating of 77.50 makes her a clear second-choice by our numbers, and at 5/1 the place pool should pay well if she runs to her figure. David Cabrera is one of the more reliable sticks in this jockey colony, and trainer Allen C. Dupuy has her primed for a forward effort at 6½ furlongs. The 5% career win rate is a concern, but in the place spot at these odds, she's worth a look.
Divine Wind sits at 3/1 on the morning line — the public's second choice — with a solid 67.92 TrackWiz rating and matching average speed figures (54) for the distance. Trainer J.R. Caldwell has been competitive at Remington, and Rene Diaz picks up the mount. Plugging her into show and exacta tickets with the top two makes sense at a price that should still return value.
Race 3
Claiming · 1 mi · Dirt
A classy one-mile dirt claimer with three horses bunched tightly at the top of the ratings — pace dynamics over a route distance could separate this field late.
Sands of Time tops the field with an 87.08 TrackWiz rating and leads all horses in average speed (55) — a meaningful edge when the field is stretching out to a mile. Trainer Justin R. Evans saddles a horse with a 14% career win rate, and Tyler Bacon gets the call in what looks like a well-timed spot. The 3/1 morning line is fair, but given the rating edge at a route distance that rewards stamina and pace fitness, this is a confident top selection.
Mirage is the public's morning-line favorite at 5/2 with a 86.32 TrackWiz rating — essentially a dead heat with Sands of Time at the top. The Steven Asmussen and Erik Asmussen trainer-jockey combo is one of the most powerful in the country, and that familiarity can be a huge advantage in a route race where positioning decisions are critical. At 5/2 she'll be bet down, but she's clearly capable of running them down.
Silver I Am has the field's best average speed figure among the contenders (54, tied with Shop Time but with a much superior 80.22 rating) and brings a 12% career win rate to the table. Trainer Robertino Diodoro and jockey Ramon Vazquez are a sharp combination at Remington, and at 6/1 she's a genuine value underneath. If the pace gets honest up front, Silver I Am's closing profile makes her a natural fit in the exotics.
We're giving everyone a free look at the first three races to kick off the day. Go Purple opens things up in Race 1 — a 5½-furlong dirt claimer — where our rating of 86.35 has her sitting atop a thin field at a very workable 7/2 morning line. Roll into Race 2 and Ante Up Tony looks like another solid play at 9/2 going 6½ furlongs, a trip that should suit his profile nicely on this surface. Then in Race 3, Sands of Time steps up to a flat mile and earns our highest free-race rating at 87.08 — he's the 3/1 favorite for a reason, but that number still offers value relative to his ceiling.
On a fast-track day like today, watch the pace scenario in Race 3 carefully. A mile on dirt at Remington can get honest in a hurry, and horses with a strong mid-race move tend to hold their edge late. Sands of Time's profile fits that mold. All three free picks represent our best-value angles to start the day — straightforward plays worth building your early Pick 3 tickets around.
