Parx Racing Picks & Predictions — October 28, 2026
It's a crisp Wednesday at Parx Racing — 64 degrees under partly cloudy skies, which should keep the dirt track playing fair and fast. Nine races are on the board, all on the main dirt surface, which means pace scenarios and speed figure analysis are front and center today.
The card leans heavily on claiming and starter company, but don't let that fool you — there's plenty of wagering opportunity from the first post to the nightcap. We've got three free previews to get you started and six premium deep dives for the serious player looking to build multi-race tickets.
Best Bets
Race 1
Claiming · 1 1/16 mi · Dirt
A claiming opener with a clear top two on paper, but the morning line favorite carries legitimate threats from a pair of horses with strong TrackWiz ratings — don't expect this one to go wire to wire without a fight.
Psalmist is the standout here, posting a TrackWiz rating of 88.62 — the highest in the field — and drawing the 6/5 morning line for good reason. Trainer Jacinto Solis has Francisco Martinez in the irons, a pairing worth noting in a one-mile-plus dirt route. The 7% career win rate may look modest, but in a claiming field where most rivals are below 10%, consistency matters more than raw numbers. At 6/5, there's no overlay here, but this is the horse to beat.
Ad Majora (3) rates second-best in the field with an 85.62 TrackWiz rating and checks in at 4/1 on the morning line — solid value if you're building exactas around the favorite. Trainer Alexis Romero sends out Eliseo Ruiz, and Ad Majora's 12% career win rate is the best of any horse in this field. That conversion rate says this horse knows how to fire when pointed correctly.
Sweet Interlude (4) brings the highest average speed figure in the race at 54 and profiles as a pace factor from the four-hole. Luke Hoskins takes the mount for trainer Howard R. Brown, Jr., and at 6/1, she offers genuine exacta/trifecta value against the two chalk horses up top. Her 63.03 rating leaves some daylight between her and the top two, but in a claiming race this competitive, you want her in your tickets.
Race 2
Maiden Claiming · 1 mi · Dirt
Maiden claimers are always tricky — nobody in this field has broken their maiden yet — but there's a meaningful gap in TrackWiz ratings at the top, giving bettors a clearer roadmap than you usually get in these races.
King Amore (1) tops the TrackWiz ratings at 57.50 and draws the rail in a one-mile dirt sprint — not an ideal post in a mile race, but trainer J. Tyler Servis is a familiar name at Parx and saddles Frankie Pennington, who knows this track well. With an average speed figure of 53 and the morning line co-favoring this horse at 5/2, the public agrees with our model. In a maiden claimer where all horses have 0% career win rates, the edge goes to the horse showing the most consistent underlying numbers.
Ride Jordan Ride (3) is the closest challenger on ratings at 56.67 and actually leads the field in average speed at 54 — the best raw figure on the board. Paco Lopez is one of the circuit's most capable jockeys and his presence on the 3/1 morning line horse suggests connections believe this one is ready to fire. If the pace scenario favors closers, this horse has the foot to run them down.
Peterman (5) is an interesting underneath piece from the Servis barn — same trainer as King Amore, giving the connections a powerful one-two punch. The 51.67 rating matches Get the Cheddar (7) but Peterman gets Luis Ocasio up, a solid pilot at Parx. No average speed figure to lean on here, which keeps this in the show spot, but trainer Servis winning with either horse pays trifecta backers either way.
Race 3
Claiming · 1 mi · Dirt
One of the most competitive claiming races on the card — four horses are bunched between 74 and 87 on the TrackWiz scale, setting up a pace duel that could benefit a closer or a well-positioned stalker.
Prince Colton (2) leads the field with an 87.08 TrackWiz rating and a 14% career win rate that reflects a horse who fires with regularity. Trainer Richard Vega sends out Dexter Haddock, a solid booking at 3/1 morning line. His average speed of 52 is right in line with most of the field, meaning this race likely comes down to tactical positioning — and a 3/1 price on the top-rated horse in a field this deep is workable.
Ahsad (5) is the pace angle play here — a 54 average speed figure is the best in the field and should put this horse on or near the lead through the first half of the mile. Trainer John T. Kirby has Frankie Pennington up, and the 82.84 rating makes this a genuine Win contender in disguise at 7/2. If Prince Colton gets into a speed duel, Ahsad might just clear and coast.
Walk Away Joe (1) rounds out a formidable top three with an 81.41 rating and the highest career win rate among the top picks at 15%. Trainer Jamie Ness is a steady hand and Mychel Sanchez takes the call from the rail. A 4/1 price with that win percentage makes Walk Away Joe a legitimate trifecta piece — if the two horses above him run each other into the ground, Joe can close into a piece of this.
Our first three races set a compelling tone. Psalmist opens the card as a short-priced morning-line favorite in Race 1 — and with a TrackWiz rating of 88.62, that price may actually be warranted. In Race 2, King Amore draws our top spot in a maiden claiming mile, though the lower rating (57.5) reminds us this is a wide-open field where the right pace scenario matters more than usual. Prince Colton at 3/1 in Race 3 is the value highlight of the free trio — an 87.08 rating at a price worth attacking.
One thread connecting these early races: they're all going a mile or longer on dirt, which puts a premium on horses that rate well off the pace or have shown the ability to carry speed further than six furlongs. Keep that in mind as you build your early wagers.
