Parx Racing Picks & Predictions — October 26, 2026
It's a crisp Monday at Parx Racing — clear skies, 65°F, and a 9-race all-dirt card that gives us plenty to dig into. Conditions look ideal for fast, honest fractions, and with a dry track that should be playing fair from rail to five-path, surface bias shouldn't be a major distractor today.
The card runs the full gamut: a pair of Maiden Claimers for younger horses still searching for their first win, a handful of Claiming and Starter Optional Claiming bouts, and what figures to be the day's showcase — Race 8, an Allowance Optional Claiming sprint at 6½ furlongs where morning-line favorite More Than Grace carries our highest TrackWiz rating on the card at a flat 90. That race alone is worth setting a reminder for.
Three races are open to everyone today. The remaining six are part of our premium full-card breakdown. Let's get into it.
Best Bets
Race 1
Claiming · 6 fur · Dirt
A short six-furlong claiming sprint where the morning line is stacked at the top, but TrackWiz ratings tell a different story — the 8/5 favorite carries the field's highest score and looks like a legitimate chalk play.
Buckin' Right tops our ratings at 89.12, the clear number one in this field by a meaningful margin. Trainer Elliott Soto-Martinez also sends out May Mischief in this same race, which shows barn confidence in the spot — and when a trainer doubles up, it's often the horse with the better figures who fires. At 8/5 on the morning line, the price isn't juicy, but the TrackWiz rating gap between Buckin' Right and the next contender justifies the favoritism.
Spooky Gal carries a TrackWiz rating of 80.55 — second best in the field — and backs it up with a 20% career win rate, the highest among the top contenders. Kendry Rivera gets the call for trainer Edward J. Coletti, Jr., and the 4/1 morning line represents real value for a horse whose underlying numbers suggest she belongs right in the thick of this. Don't overlook her in the exacta underneath.
Vanaka draws the rail and comes in at 2/1 on the morning line with a solid 73.96 TrackWiz rating — third best in the field. A 14% career win rate is respectable in claiming company, and Angel Castillo navigating post one cleanly in a six-furlong sprint could be the difference between a tough trip and a clean run. She's a logical show anchor and exacta/trifecta piece.
Race 2
Claiming · 6 1/2 fur · Dirt
The morning line favorite and the TrackWiz top-rated horse don't match up here — Moor Strength goes off at 5/1 despite owning the field's best rating and the only horse with an average speed figure advantage, setting up a potential overlay situation.
Moor Strength is the only horse in this six-and-a-half-furlong dirt claiming field averaging 55 on speed figures — every other runner checks in at 54 or below. That one-point edge might sound small, but in a field this evenly matched, it's a real separator. At 5/1 on the morning line with a 84.17 TrackWiz rating, Eliseo Ruiz has a live mount that the public appears to be underestimating. This is our top value play in Race 2.
Shadyside brings a 31% career win rate into this spot — easily the best strike rate in the field — which tells you trainer Jamie Ness knows how to get this horse into the winner's circle. A 74.31 TrackWiz rating backs up that pedigree, and Mychel J. Sanchez is a dependable rider at Parx. At 5/2, the place price won't be huge, but Shadyside is a confident inclusion in any exacta.
Shetalkstomuch is the morning line favorite at 8/5, trained by Ernesto Padilla-Preciado — same barn as Pearls and Heels in this race — and rates third on our TrackWiz model at 69.78. The 12% career win rate is the softest among the top three, but the public support suggests something in the recent workouts or condition has the connections confident. Use her as a show hedge and in the trifecta.
Race 3
Maiden Claiming · 6 fur · Dirt
Maiden claimers are always a puzzle — nobody in this six-furlong field has ever hit the board to win — but Wheelhouse holds a notable speed figure advantage and draws sharp public interest at 8/5, making pace and early position the key storyline.
Wheelhouse owns the top TrackWiz rating in this field at 89.12 and, more importantly, posts the highest average speed figure of the group at 56 — two full points clear of most rivals. In a maiden claiming sprint where raw speed often dictates the outcome, that kind of figure advantage is hard to ignore. Trainer Susan L. Crowell puts Abner Adorno in the irons, a capable pairing for a horse the market has installed as the slight favorite at 8/5.
Capt Fluff N Stuff checks in with a 74.26 TrackWiz rating and is the second choice on the morning line at 9/5 — nearly dead-even money with Wheelhouse. Trainer Kathleen A. Demasi has this horse primed for a maiden claiming spot, and Magglio Sanchez riding from post one gives connections every chance to control the pace scenario early. If Wheelhouse gets into trouble or fades, Capt Fluff N Stuff is ideally positioned to steal the place.
Matzoball Muhammet rates third on our model at 62.57 and is offered at 6/1 on the morning line — making this an intriguing show value play and a legitimate trifecta inclusion. The speed figure of 52 trails the top two, but in a maiden field with question marks throughout, experience and trip luck matter enormously. At those odds, this horse more than pays its way in exotics.
Our three free races kick off the card and offer some genuinely interesting angles. Race 1 brings us Buckin' Right at 8/5 on the morning line — a solid rating of 89 suggests this one is well-spotted, and six furlongs on the Parx dirt suits a horse that should be comfortable near the front. Race 2 opens up a value conversation: Moor Strength is our top pick at 5/1, which makes the 84-rated effort a potential overlay if the pace sets up correctly over 6½ furlongs. Don't sleep on that morning line. Race 3 is a Maiden Claimer, always tricky, but Wheelhouse carries the same 89-point rating as the Race 1 top pick — that kind of figure in a maiden field at this level tends to stand out, and 8/5 looks fair rather than inflated.
The thread connecting all three free races is simple: the all-dirt, shorter-to-mid-distance format on a dry, honest track. Horses that can establish position early without burning themselves out should have every advantage today. Keep an eye on how the first couple of races play out — if early speed is holding, lean into it for the remainder of the free picks.
