Lethbridge RMTC Picks & Predictions — June 14, 2026

7 racesLethbridge RMTC

It's a Sunday afternoon at Lethbridge RMTC and the ponies are going seven times on the dirt. Skies are cloudy and temperatures are sitting at a comfortable 67°F — not enough to soften the track, so expect conditions to play close to the rail and favor horses that can settle in and fire late.

The card is a solid mix of maiden types, allowance company, and Starter Optional Claiming events, all stretched out at five or six furlongs. There's no shortage of intrigue, with a handful of short-priced morning line favorites suggesting the bettors' room could be doing a lot of chalk-watching today — which, for the sharp player, means the value hides deeper in the card.

Three races are open to all TrackWiz readers today. Races 4 through 7 are reserved for subscribers, and trust us — that's where some of the more interesting pace scenarios start to develop.

Best Bets

Race 1

Maiden · 5 fur · Dirt

A wide-open maiden sprint where most of the field is making their first start with no recorded speed figures — but one horse stands well above the rest on our ratings.

win5Ramblin RiggsML 3/5

Ramblin Riggs is the standout of this maiden opener, carrying a TrackWiz rating of 90 — nearly 30 points clear of the next horse in the field. Trainer Laura E. Conway sends this one out at a 3/5 morning line, reflecting just how dominant the pre-race profile looks. With Trevor Simpson in the irons, this is the kind of horse you build your ticket around rather than against. The question in any maiden race is whether workouts translate to the track, but the numbers here are hard to ignore.

place2Whiskeysippi RiverML 2/1

Whiskeysippi River is the lone horse in this field with a recorded average speed figure of 53, giving Blandford Stewart something tangible to work with in what is otherwise a race full of unknowns. A 2/1 morning line and a TrackWiz rating of 61.27 make this the clear second choice, and that modest speed figure could be enough to hit the board if the favorite underperforms. Trainer Carl Perry likely has this one pointed right for a debut maiden effort.

show4Spirit of CharlieML 3/1

Spirit of Charlie gets a 3/1 morning line from Andre Powell and trainer Chandra Clarke, and a rating of 56.67 slots this one comfortably in the middle tier of the field. In a maiden race with multiple first-time starters showing no prior data, any horse with a half-decent profile becomes relevant for show purposes. Including Spirit of Charlie in your exacta and trifecta combinations makes solid exotic sense here.

Race 2

Allowance · 6 fur · Dirt

Two horses — Flashing Joker and Darkcloudofsmoke — dominate the ratings in this six-furlong allowance, setting up a likely match race with the rest of the field racing for the show spot.

win1Flashing JokerML 8/5

Flashing Joker tops our ratings at 89.12 and draws the rail with Gilberto Santos up, a strong combination in a short field on a one-turn sprint. Trainer Macynne Packham sends this one out as the morning line favorite at 8/5, and while the career win percentage sits at 4%, the overall rating profile suggests this horse has been running against tougher company than what's in here today. The pace scenario likely plays right into Flashing Joker's hands — this is our best bet of the race.

place4DarkcloudofsmokeML 6/5

Darkcloudofsmoke is the other big gun in this field, posting a 13% career win rate with a TrackWiz rating of 85.05, and trainer Memory McCracken sends this one out at 6/5 on the morning line. The case for landing in the place spot rather than the win is really about the post draw — the 4-hole with Orlando Foster gives Darkcloudofsmoke a clean trip, but Flashing Joker's inside post could be a decisive advantage on a short sprint. Either way, this one belongs on your ticket.

show3Hola LolaML 3/1

Hola Lola brings the best career win percentage in the field at 14%, which suggests a consistent horse that knows how to find the board. Trainer Clinton Rycroft and jockey Garfield Gordon team up here, and an average speed figure of 52 gives the horse a baseline of ability. At 3/1, there's some value in using Hola Lola underneath if the top two hook up in a speed duel that leaves them vulnerable late.

Race 3

Starter Optional Claiming · 6 fur · Dirt

Poco Yo looks like the class of this starter optional claiming field, but a 3/5 morning line means you're laying a big price — the real handicapping question is who fills out the exotics.

win3Poco YoML 3/5

Poco Yo is as dominant a play as you'll see in this card, carrying a 90 rating, a 41% career win percentage, and an average speed figure of 55. That win rate is exceptional — nearly half this horse's career starts have ended in victory — and trainer Laurie Ferguson has this one perfectly positioned at 6 furlongs on the dirt. Trevor Simpson has the mount, and this combination has the look of a short-priced lock, though the 3/5 price means you're really playing for exactas and trifectas to generate value.

place2Street ArtML 3/1

Street Art is the clear logical second choice here, with a solid 75.2 TrackWiz rating and a 17% career win percentage that shows this horse is no slouch. Trainer Lyle W. Magnuson saddles a horse from the 2-hole with Larris Allen up, and the 3/1 morning line reflects genuine respect from the morning line maker. If Poco Yo gets into any trouble in the early going, Street Art has the profile to steal the race outright.

show4Blue Skye JadeML 2/1

Blue Skye Jade is a legitimate value piece at 2/1, posting a 21% career win rate — the second-best in the field behind Poco Yo — and an average speed figure of 51. Trainer Roy Romanow and Jose O. Rocha team up from the 4-post, and while the 50.33 rating is a step back from the top two, that career win percentage tells you this horse competes. Use Blue Skye Jade to complete your trifecta boxes at a reasonable price.

The first three races give us a nice cross-section of the day. Ramblin Riggs opens the card as a heavy 3/5 morning line shot in the maiden sprint, posting a TrackWiz rating of 90 — as strong a number as you'll see on this card. In Race 2, Flashing Joker steps into allowance company at 8/5 with a rating of 89, and at that price there's at least a conversation to be had about value. Then Poco Yo closes out the free card in Race 3, another 3/5 morning line favorite carrying a 90 rating in the Starter Optional Claiming. Three chalky favorites in a row can feel like a grind, but the ratings back the prices — these aren't manufactured short prices.

One thread to watch across all three races: the six-furlong distance (and the five in Race 1) suits front-runners on a surface that should be fast and consistent today. Horses that establish position early without getting into a speed duel have a real edge. Keep an eye on how Race 1 plays out pace-wise — it can tell you a lot about what the strip is doing all afternoon.
