Gulfstream Park Picks & Predictions — October 10, 2026
It's a soggy Saturday at Gulfstream Park, and if you've been around the track long enough, you know that 88-degree heat plus steady rain is a recipe for chaos. The turf is taking on moisture, which means any horse with a soft-ground pedigree or a history of handling off going just moved up in our ratings — and a few morning-line favorites may be about to get exposed.
Ten races are on the board today, spread across dirt and turf, spanning claiming routes, maiden sprints, and a pair of handicap events that have our attention. The card gives you plenty of angles to attack, from short-field value plays early to multi-race horizontal sequences later in the afternoon.
Three races are open to every TrackWiz reader, and our analysis on those alone should put you in a strong position heading into the day. The remaining seven are unlocked for subscribers — and with the way this track is playing today, you'll want every edge you can get.
Best Bets
Race 1
Claiming · 7 1/2 fur · Turf
A wide-open turf claimer at 7½ furlongs where the top two TrackWiz-rated horses hold a significant edge over the field, but a double-digit-priced runner lurking inside could complicate things.
Gold Foot tops our ratings at 87.08 and draws the 6-post on a surface where outside runners can find clean air in the early going. Trainer Sam Wilensky sends him out at a morning line of 3/1, suggesting connections have confidence despite a career win rate of 13%. The avg speed figure of 55 matches the upper tier of this field, and that combination of elite rating plus competitive price makes him our best bet on the card opener.
Mythical Man (7) is the morning-line favorite at 2/1 for a reason — a field-best 20% career win rate and a TrackWiz rating of 82.58 that's right behind Gold Foot's. Trainer Victor Barboza, Jr. keeps him sharp, and with Diego Herrera in the irons, he's likely to be forwardly positioned throughout. If Gold Foot falters, Mythical Man is almost certainly picking up a piece.
Seaver at 10/1 is the value inclusion in your exotics here. His rating of 64.68 is the third-highest in the field, and a morning line of 10/1 suggests the crowd may underestimate him under Miguel Angel Vasquez. A 55 avg speed figure ties him with the top performers speed-wise, making him a sneaky show play in a wide-open bottom tier.
Race 2
Claiming · 1 mi · Dirt
The public will gravitate toward Sea God's favorable post and morning-line favoritism, but our numbers say the real standout is buried deeper in the program at a very playable price.
Action Delight (7) owns the top TrackWiz rating in this field at 82.71 — a significant gap over her closest rival Sunday Song (71.32). At 6/1 on the morning line, she offers genuine value for a horse that grades out this clearly on top. Trainer Kathleen O'Connell puts Sonny Leon up, a capable combination on the one-mile dirt, and while her 7% career win rate is modest, the overall quality number here is hard to dismiss.
Sunday Song (2) is the second-highest-rated runner at 71.32 and clocks in with an avg speed figure of 54 — tied for best in the field alongside her. She's at 3/1 on the morning line, and with Miguel Angel Vasquez aboard for trainer Gary Jackson, she profiles as a horse who could press the pace and be running late. If Action Delight does her job up front, Sunday Song is right there for the place spot.
Excuses (6) rounds out our TrackWiz exotics ticket at a rating of 64.51 and a 5% career win clip — low, but this is a claiming field where consistency matters more than peak form. Trainer Nicholas Tomlinson puts Diego Herrera up, and a 53 avg speed sits in the middle of the field range. At 6/1, she's a reasonable show anchor if the top two run their races.
Race 3
Maiden Claiming · 1 mi 70 yd · Dirt
A wide-open maiden claiming route where nobody in the field has ever won — so we're leaning hard on the TrackWiz ratings and speed figures to separate the contenders from the pretenders.
Fifteen Hundred R (7) leads all comers with an 84.90 TrackWiz rating in a field where most horses are bunched between 28 and 62. That's a meaningful separation. Trainer Pedro Garcia, Jr. has Leonel Reyes in the saddle — a jockey who shows up frequently in this meet's top spots. The 9/2 morning line feels right for a horse who rates out this far ahead; this is our TrackWiz top selection in the race.
Rudi (4) checks in second on our ratings at 73.71 and is the morning-line second choice at 7/2 under Rasheed Hughes for trainer Antonio Sano — a solid conditioner who knows how to place maiden horses. With an avg speed of 53 and a clean profile, Rudi projects as the most natural backup to our top pick, especially if Fifteen Hundred R faces any early trouble.
Starship Iceman (2) is the public's morning-line favorite at 8/5 and rates third on our sheet at 61.79 — slightly behind Rudi despite the shorter price. The crowd clearly likes him, and with Yolber Torres riding for Jose Francisco D'Angelo, there's stable confidence here. He's worth including in show position on your tickets even if our model doesn't quite put him at the top.
Our three free races today are a solid cross-section of what this card has to offer. Race 1 on the turf looks like a strong spot for Gold Foot (morning line 3/1, TrackWiz rating 87.08) — and with rain already in the system, watch for any late surface changes that could shuffle the field. Over on the dirt, Race 2 presents a genuine value angle with Action Delight posting a 6/1 morning line despite an 82.71 rating that suggests the oddsmakers may be underestimating this one. Then in Race 3, maiden claiming company stretches out to a mile and 70 yards, and Fifteen Hundred R at 9/2 looks well-suited to the added ground with an 84.90 rating that tops the field in our model.
The through-line connecting these three free picks? Wet conditions favor horses that settle early and finish strong, and all three of our top selections have pace profiles that play well when the footing gets heavy. Don't sleep on the dirt races today — rain at Gulfstream can produce a speed-favoring bias or completely flip it depending on how much water has soaked in by post time.
