Finger Lakes Picks & Predictions — June 29, 2026
Clear skies, 82 degrees, and a fast Finger Lakes strip — conditions don't get much cleaner than this for a Monday card. Eight races on the dirt today, ranging from a maiden special weight full of unknowns to a pair of allowance routes that could produce some of the sharpest efforts we've seen at this track all meet.
The card is a nice mix of sprint and route action, which always keeps the pace scenarios interesting. When you've got quick 5½-furlong dashes sitting alongside two one-mile allowance tests, the day rewards handicappers who can shift gears — and today we think we've found the angles worth your money.
Three races are fully unlocked for every TrackWiz reader, and the top picks across those free races carry TrackWiz ratings north of 86 — solid confidence numbers on a card that looks more approachable than your typical summer weekday book.
Best Bets
Race 1
Allowance Optional Claiming · 1 mi · Dirt
Three horses are bunched within a whisker of each other at the top of the TrackWiz ratings in this one-mile allowance optional claimer — expect a genuine battle between the top trio and little margin for error.
King's Leap draws post one and tops our ratings at 87.81 in what shapes up as a pace-honest mile on the dirt. A 37% career win rate is elite at this level — that's the kind of horse who knows how to close the deal when pointed at a field. Luis E. Perez gets the call for trainer M. Anthony Ferraro, and that combination should have this horse forwardly placed from the rail. At 5/2 on the morning line, the price is fair for the top-rated horse in the field.
Ouster (5) is the natural threat to King's Leap with a strong 85.77 TrackWiz rating and a 35% career win percentage — nearly as dominant a closing profile as the top pick. Kevin Navarro aboard for trainer Jonathan B. Buckley is a pairing worth noting in allowance company. If anything disrupts King's Leap early, Ouster has the figures to pounce.
Drake's Passage (6) rounds out the top three with an 83.29 rating and figures to see a clean trip from post six. Trainer Miguel Clement sends this one out at 9/5 morning line, suggesting the connections believe in their horse — that's the shortest price in the field. In exacta and trifecta tickets, Drake's Passage is a near-automatic underneath play given the tight ratings cluster.
Race 2
Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
Bayou Melody and La Indecente look like a two-horse show on paper, but Isle Storm lurks at a price that makes the trifecta interesting in this 5.5-furlong dirt claimer.
Bayou Melody (1) heads into this race as our top-rated horse at 86.35 and brings a 26% career win rate that stands well above most of this field. Kevin Navarro takes the mount for trainer Jonathan B. Buckley, a barn that clearly had Bayou Melody pointed at a spot like this. In a short sprint of 5.5 furlongs, getting out of the gate cleanly from post one is critical, and a horse with this kind of back class should be comfortable on the lead or just off it.
La Indecente (3) is essentially a coin flip with the top pick on ratings — 85.62 compared to 86.35 — and represents the main pace threat in this race. Michael A. Davila, Jr. rides for trainer Luis Gutierrez, and while the career win rate of 13% is modest, the speed figures say this filly belongs right in the thick of it at 5/2. She's the strongest exacta play in the race.
Isle Storm (5) rates a step below the top duo but has a 17% career win rate and an average speed figure of 54 that matches La Indecente. Trainer Linda K. Dixon sends her out at 3/1, suggesting confidence, and Nazario Alvarado has the experience to put her in the right spot in a field this size. She's worth including in any trifecta combination at a price that could pay nicely.
Race 3
Allowance · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
Blamicker looks like a cut above in this 5.5-furlong allowance, but the show price on longshot Stars N Stones gives trifecta players a reason to stay engaged past the top two.
Blamicker (4) is simply the class of this field — a 89.42 TrackWiz rating and an eye-popping 50% career win rate make this horse the most dominant top pick on today's entire card. Trainer Chris J. Englehart has this one primed, and Andre Shivnarine Worrie takes the mount. The 7/5 morning line makes Blamicker a short-priced favorite, but that win percentage justifies the chalk — horses who win half their races tend to keep winning.
This Time Yes (3) is the logical second choice at 5/2 with a 64.27 rating that creates a meaningful gap between herself and the rest below Blamicker. Oscar Gomez rides for trainer Paul W. Barrow, a stable that has shown up competitive in allowance company today. In a race where Blamicker should control things up front, This Time Yes could find clear running to secure the place.
Stars N Stones (5) is a genuine longshot angle at 12/1 morning line despite a 53.88 rating that is not embarrassing in this company. Trainer M. Anthony Ferraro — who also saddles today's Race 1 win pick — is a busy barn worth respecting, and Keiber J. Coa is a capable rider. At double-digit odds, a small show bet or trifecta inclusion gives you strong upside if the race sets up with a pace duel ahead of her.
Our three free best bets today — King's Leap in Race 1, Bayou Melody in Race 2, and Blamicker in Race 3 — all share a common thread: each figures to benefit from a clean, dry Finger Lakes surface that should play fair all afternoon. No bias concerns today. What wins here is raw ability, and all three of these selections rate out well on that front.
Blamicker is the one to know heading in — a 7/5 morning line favorite in the Race 3 allowance that carries our highest rating of the free tier at 89.42. That's the kind of number that says chalk for a reason. King's Leap at 5/2 in the one-mile opener offers a touch more morning-line value, and Bayou Melody rounds out the free card in a 5½-furlong claiming sprint where the pace could set up perfectly for a stalker. All three are worth building around.
