Century Mile Picks & Predictions — June 26, 2026
It's a wet Friday at Century Mile and the rail is going to tell a story today. Rain has been falling with temperatures sitting at 69°F, which means the dirt is playing differently than a typical Alberta afternoon — expect some surface bias to creep into the pace picture, and horses that can handle a bit of give underfoot will have a leg up.
Eight races are on the board, ranging from a lightning-quick 400-yard quarter-horse sprint in Race 1 all the way out to a mile-and-70 Allowance closer in Race 8. The mix of conditions — Allowance, Maiden Claiming, Claiming, and an Allowance Optional Claiming — gives us plenty of class angles to work with throughout the card.
TrackWiz has analysis locked and loaded for all eight races. Three are open to every reader, and five are available to subscribers with the full premium breakdown. Let's get into it.
Best Bets
Race 1
Allowance · 400 yd · Dirt
A short-format quarter-horse sprint at 400 yards where raw speed and rating separation tell the real story — She My Dulce Girl holds a commanding edge on paper, but Wagon Burner 109 and Santana Chicka make this more than a one-horse race.
She My Dulce Girl is the clear top-rated horse in this field with a TrackWiz rating of 84.9 — the highest in the race by a significant margin. What really jumps out is her 33% career win rate, which is exceptional for a quarter-horse sprint field at this level and nearly double what most of her rivals are posting. Trainer Misael Moreno also saddles Santana Chicka, giving him two bullets in this race, which suggests the barn is confident about their chances. At 9/2 on the morning line, there's genuine value here given the rating advantage she holds over the field.
Wagon Burner 109 comes in with a solid 71.21 rating and ties Santana Chicka's 16% career win percentage, but the morning line of 7/2 suggests the market respects her chances. In a short sprint like 400 yards, gate speed and raw ability matter most, and her numbers support a place finish even if She My Dulce Girl fires on all cylinders up front.
Santana Chicka sits third in the TrackWiz ratings at 55.3 and has a 16% career win rate under trainer Misael Moreno — the same barn as our top pick. Sharing a trainer with the favorite can sometimes signal a supporting role, but in a five-horse field at 5/2, she's a logical exotic inclusion and a reasonable show hedge if things get tactical out of the gate.
Race 2
Maiden Claiming · 7 fur · Dirt
An all-maiden field going seven furlongs where speed figures are tight for most of the field, but one horse separates herself with a rating that stands well above the rest — the question is whether the morning-line favorite can finally break her maiden.
Kitten Kandy carries a 90 TrackWiz rating into this race — the maximum separation from a field where the next-best horse (Dale's Legacy) checks in at 71.44. While her career win rate sits at 0%, that's the nature of maiden races, and the key here is that her average speed figure of 53 is in line with the field while her overall rating suggests superior form in other analytical dimensions. Trainer Geovani Olalde puts jockey Alexander Marti in the irons, and the 4/5 morning line signals she's a deserving favorite even if odds-on betting in maiden company always carries risk.
Dale's Legacy is the clear second choice in our ratings at 71.44 and represents a solid place option at a 4/1 morning line that offers genuine value. Her average speed figure of 53 matches most of the field, and trainer Craig Robert Smith has her pointing at the right spot. If Kitten Kandy takes the short route to the winner's circle, Dale's Legacy looks like the most likely finisher right behind her.
She's a Rowski actually posts the highest average speed figure in the field at 54, which is a notable data point worth flagging even if her overall rating of 55.72 sits third. Trainer Seymour Biggs also saddles Porter's Princess in this race, and She's a Rowski looks like the barn's better hope. In a maiden field where any horse can improve dramatically with experience, her raw speed numbers make her a logical show inclusion in your exacta and trifecta tickets.
Race 3
Claiming · 1 1/16 mi · Dirt
A claiming route at 1 1/16 miles that sets up as a real battle between class and consistency — the top-rated horse is being overlooked by the morning line, and two legitimate contenders with strong win percentages could make this a competitive three-way affair.
H K Mimi is our top-rated horse in Race 3 at 86.35 — the highest rating in this field by nearly seven points over Artistic Jewler. What makes her particularly interesting is a 30% career win rate that speaks to a consistent performer, and her average speed figure of 54 matches the best in the field. The 7/2 morning line likely understates her chances given the rating edge, and trainer Tom Rycroft with jockey Jose Mariano Asencio up is a combination worth tracking. This is a best bet situation where the market is giving you value on the top number.
Artistic Jewler is the morning-line favorite at 9/5, which makes the place position a bit of a twist — but her 79.25 rating and 20% career win rate are legitimate, and Enrique Alonzo Gonzalez is a capable pilot in this spot. Her average speed of 53 is a tick below the top contenders, which is part of why we have her slotted just behind H K Mimi, but in a five-horse field she's too consistent to leave off the ticket.
Rose of Texas posts a 74.56 rating and ties for the best average speed figure in the race at 54, alongside H K Mimi and Starfall. Her 17% career win rate is respectable in claiming company, and trainer Jason Coney keeps her competitive at this level. She's the third-best number in the field and at 5/2 she could factor into the exacta and trifecta at a workable price.
The free portion of today's card is legitimately compelling. Race 1 opens things with a quarter-horse sprint, and She My Dulce Girl (morning line 9/2, TrackWiz rating 84.9) jumps out as a value play — that morning line suggests the market isn't fully on board yet, which is exactly where we like to be. Over in Race 2, Kitten Kandy comes in as the heavy chalk at 4/5 with a 90.0 TrackWiz rating, the strongest number among the free picks — odds-on favorites in maiden company on a wet track can be vulnerable, so watch the tote carefully before you commit. Race 3 stretches out to a mile and a sixteenth, and H K Mimi at 7/2 in a Claiming field looks like the right price for a horse our models respect.
The rain is the connective thread here. All three free races run on dirt today, and a sealed or wet-fast surface at Century Mile tends to compress the pace early. Front-runners with good gate manners could be harder to catch than usual — keep that in mind when you're weighing your free plays.
