Belterra Park Picks & Predictions — June 3, 2026
It's a beautiful Wednesday at Belterra Park — clear skies, 76°F, and the kind of firm turf that makes course regulars lick their chops. Eight races are on the board, mixing dirt sprints, a pair of turf routes, and a maiden claiming affair on the grass that could be a sleeper for exotic players.
The card opens with a trio of free races that give everyone a taste of today's action, headlined by a Starter Optional Claiming sprint in Race 3 where Beach Kitten looks like the one to beat. From there, the premium half of the card digs into a full-mile turf claiming race, a short-field maiden on the grass, and a closer-friendly dirt route that could set up a nice exacta or two.
Conditions are about as good as it gets in southwestern Ohio this time of year. The weather hasn't been a factor, and our TrackWiz models are showing some strong angles throughout the card — including a legit longshot flag in Race 2 that sharp players will want to see.
Best Bets
Race 1
Claiming · 6 fur · Dirt
A clear class standout tops this six-furlong claiming opener, but the morning line favorite lurks as a dangerous second choice who could complicate things.
Lalily is the class of this field and it isn't particularly close — her TrackWiz rating of 88.54 is a full 16 points clear of her nearest rival. Trainer Jack L. Hancock sends her out with jockey Brooke Bays, and she carries a 7% career win rate that leads all entrants. At 2/1 on the morning line, she's not a huge overlay, but that rating gap justifies the short price here.
Belly Dance is the morning line favorite at 7/5, posting the field's joint-best average speed figure of 54 alongside a solid TrackWiz rating of 72.72. Trainer Gerard Ochoa has her ready to fire, and Santiago Gonzalez is an experienced hand in the irons — she should be right there at the finish even if she can't overcome Lalily.
Star Watch at 7/2 offers some fringe exotic value with a rating of 57.32 and a 5% career win clip that's respectable in this company. Trainer John J. Manning, Jr. keeps her competitive at the claiming level, and if the pace between Lalily and Belly Dance sets up favorably, Cesar Orantes could guide her into the exacta picture.
Race 2
Allowance · 6 fur · Dirt
A genuine value bomb sits atop our TrackWiz ratings in this six-furlong allowance, creating a rare spot where the morning line overlook and the top-rated horse are the same animal.
Sunny Lion is the pick here at 8/1, and that price looks like a gift when you look at the numbers — her TrackWiz rating of 79.79 actually edges out morning line favorite Kant Elope. Trainer Robert C. Cline is double-barreled in this race, which speaks to his confidence in his stable, and Yarmarie L. Correa gets the mount. With a 13% career win rate, Sunny Lion isn't just a price play — she has legitimate ability to back it up.
Kant Elope is the 8/5 morning line choice for a reason — a 28% career win rate is exceptional at this level, and Michael J. Maker is one of the sharpest trainers on the circuit. Her rating of 79.12 is just a tick below Sunny Lion's, making her an extremely logical place horse who should be underneath in all your multi-race wagers.
Maleah at 7/2 brings a 75.10 TrackWiz rating and a 16% career win percentage that compares favorably with most of this field. Oscar Villarreal gets the call for trainer Susan L. Anderson, and in a race where the pace could be honest with multiple speed horses, a closer type landing third is very much in play.
Race 3
Starter Optional Claiming · 6 1/2 fur · Dirt
A heavily favored horse dominates the ratings in this starter optional claiming route, but a capable second choice could make things interesting if the pace scenario sets up right.
Beach Kitten is the standout here — an 89.71 TrackWiz rating leads the field comfortably, and her 20% career win rate shows she knows how to finish. Trainer Jamie L. Grubbs has her primed, and Yarmarie L. Correa is one of the more reliable pilots at this meet. At 6/5 she's short, but the gap between her and the field makes the chalk defensible.
Echo Road represents terrific place value at 5/2 — her 33% career win rate is the best in the field, a number that screams consistent performer. Oscar Villarreal pilots for trainer Ismael Bahena, and her 83.98 rating is a legitimate second-best mark here. If Beach Kitten has any trouble early, Echo Road has every tool to swoop in.
Councilwoman Jilly rounds out our top three at 4/1 with a rating of 66 and a 10% win clip under trainer Yimi Alvarez. Brooke Bays takes the mount, and in a five-horse field where the top two may set a pressing pace against each other, a stalker with a decent number like this is worth anchoring in your show parlays and trifecta keys.
The first three races give us a solid cross-section of today's card. Lalily opens things up in the dirt claiming sprint at 2/1 on the morning line and earns our top TrackWiz rating of 88.54 in Race 1 — a well-supported morning-line price that suggests the crowd already knows what we know. Race 2 is where it gets interesting: Sunny Lion sits at 8/1 on the morning line but carries a TrackWiz rating of 79.79 in what looks like a wide-open allowance field. That kind of overlay in an early race is exactly the spot to sprinkle a win bet or use as a key in the early daily double.
Race 3 is the marquee of the free selections. Beach Kitten tops our ratings at 89.71 — the highest mark of any free-race pick today — and the 6/5 morning line confirms the public is on board too. In a Starter Optional Claiming sprint at 6.5 furlongs on the dirt, pace and early position matter, and our analysis likes where Beach Kitten figures to land in the running order. These three races lay a nice foundation before the premium card kicks in with turf action and route distances that open up the multi-race ticket possibilities.

Bottom line: today's Belterra Park card is clean, the weather is cooperating, and there's genuine value sprinkled from Race 1 through Race 8. Beach Kitten is the marquee free pick, but don't sleep on the 8/1 morning line in Race 2 as a live overlay.
