Albuquerque Picks & Predictions — October 10, 2026
Happy Saturday from Albuquerque, where nine races are on tap and the weather is about as good as it gets for New Mexico racing — cloudy skies and a comfortable 74°F. No sun glare, no scorching heat baking the strip. The dirt should be playing fair and fast, which sets up an honest pace scenario across the board.
Today's card has a little something for everyone: three claiming sprints to kick things off, a Stakes double in Races 4 and 5 that gives us the marquee action of the afternoon, and then a quartet of Quarter Horse-distance missiles to close out the day. Speed, stamina, and split-second timing — Albuquerque is delivering it all.
TrackWiz has rated every starter in every race. Our top-rated horse on the card, Mo Money Molly in Race 1, carries an 87.81 rating and matches another 87.81 from Matilda's Mark in the Stakes. That kind of dead-heat rating at the top tells you the card is competitive — and that sharp angles are going to matter today.
Best Bets
Race 1
Claiming · 5 1/2 fur · Dirt
One horse stands a cut above in this 5½-furlong dirt claimer, but the middle of the pack is bunched tight enough to keep the exotics interesting.
Mo Money Molly enters as the clear class of the field with a TrackWiz rating of 87.81 — nearly 23 points clear of the second-best horse. Her 27% career win rate is the highest in the field and backs up what the numbers say: this filly knows how to hit the wire first. At 5/2 on the morning line, she's not a screaming overlay, but the gap between her and the rest of the field is wide enough to make her the confident top choice. Oscar Andrade, Jr. gets the call, and trainer Todd W. Fincher puts runners in good spots.
Street Mark (3) slots in as our place pick with a TrackWiz rating of 65.4 and a 17% career win rate — solid fundamentals for this level. Francisco Amparan handles the riding duties for trainer Martin Manuel Valdez-Cabral, a barn that doubles up in this race, suggesting confidence in the barn's local form. The 3/1 morning line offers reasonable value in the place pool.
Pop's Party (5) at 9/2 is intriguing as a show hedge. The Sherry Armstrong trainee carries a 63.22 rating and a 16% career win rate, keeping pace with the middle cluster in this field. Alfredo J. Juarez, Jr. is an experienced hand around this circuit, and at near-double-digit odds, there's value in including Pop's Party underneath in exactas and trifectas.
Race 2
Claiming · 5 fur · Dirt
An 11-horse sprint at 5 furlongs with two horses separated from the field on ratings, and a massive longshot lurking in an outside post that the morning line badly underestimates.
Silicon Native (2) tops our ratings at 76.06 and draws a favorable inside post in a 5-furlong dirt sprint where early position is everything. Trainer James E. Crotts sends him out with Luis A. Valenzuela aboard, a capable pairing. The 9/2 morning line is fair given the field size, and Silicon Native's rating edge over most of this field is meaningful enough to anchor your win bet.
Mendelssohns Music (6) is essentially a coin flip with Silicon Native on ratings — 75.98 vs. 76.06 — making this one of the tightest 1-2 combos you'll see on any card. Miguel A. Perez takes the mount for trainer Carlos C. Gonzalez, a reliable local combination. At 6/1 on the morning line, Mendelssohns Music offers solid place-pool value as a near-equal to the top pick.
West Is West (11) is the surprise of the day at 20/1 on the morning line, sitting third on TrackWiz ratings at 62.29 — well clear of the rest of this field beyond the top two. Christian Ramos picks up the ride for trainer Jeffrey J. Trujillo, and while the 5% career win rate keeps expectations measured, the rating tells a better story than the odds do. Sneaking this one into your trifecta at 20/1 is the kind of value play that makes the exotics pay.
Race 3
Claiming · 6 1/2 fur · Dirt
A legitimate three-horse battle shapes up at the top of this 6½-furlong claimer, with the top trio separated by just over 4 points on ratings and all three posting 20%+ career win percentages.
Moon Shine Time (1) leads our ratings at 87.08 with a 20% career win rate and an average speed figure of 55 — matching the best in the field on pace. Christian Ramos gets the call for trainer Vaughn Long, and at 3/1 on the morning line, the price is honest for a horse who grades out as the top pick. The 6½-furlong distance on dirt suits a pace-pressing style, and the inside post helps control early ground.
Touch Of Glam (4) is the sneaky dangerous horse in this race — an 84.04 rating and 19% career win rate at 9/2 makes her outstanding value in the place pool. Trainer Dick Cappellucci sends her out with Alfredo J. Juarez, Jr. aboard, a jockey who knows this track well. If Moon Shine Time gets pressured early, Touch Of Glam has the figures to swoop in at the wire.
Crossrighthands (7) closed as the morning-line favorite at 5/2, and a 82.67 rating with a 20% career win rate explains why. Gabriel Medrano rides for trainer Sherry Armstrong, who has a runner firing well at this meet. The only reason Crossrighthands slots third in our analysis is that Moon Shine Time edges her on ratings — in another field, she's the top pick. Don't underestimate her.
We're giving everyone a free look at the first three races on the card, and they paint an interesting early picture. Mo Money Molly (Race 1, 5/2 morning line, 87.81 rating) leads our free selections and is our highest-rated pick of the day — a strong signal in a 5½-furlong dirt sprint where early speed tends to dominate. Silicon Native follows in Race 2 at 9/2, a price worth respecting given the TrackWiz rating of 76.06 in what shapes up as a wide-open five-furlong heat. Moon Shine Time rounds out the free trio in Race 3, carrying an 87.08 rating at 3/1 — that combination of solid morning-line price and high rating is exactly the kind of spot TrackWiz looks for when identifying value plays.
The common thread through these early claimers? The slightly cloudy, cool conditions today should keep the track playing consistently, which benefits horses with reliable form rather than those who need a specific bias to fire. All three of our free picks fit that profile.
