Presque Isle Downs Picks & Predictions — July 14, 2026
It's a hot Tuesday at Presque Isle Downs — clear skies, 88°F on the thermometer, and a fast dirt track that should favor horses with early pace and the stamina to hold on. Eight races are on the board today, all on the main track, ranging from a six-furlong sprint to routes stretching out past a mile.
The card leans heavily claiming, with a Starter Optional Claiming and a pair of Allowance-level races mixed in for good measure. That class variety creates some interesting crossover angles — horses dropping into claims off allowance attempts and allowance runners stepping up from the claimer ranks. Keep your eyes open; this kind of card rewards sharp reading as much as speed-figure crunching.
TrackWiz has full ratings on all eight races. The first three are open to everyone, and our top-rated horse across the entire card — Ohoopee at 88.54 — lands in the premium-locked Race 6. Here's how the day shapes up.

Spoken Vow carries a commanding TrackWiz rating advantage into this one-mile dirt claimer, but Golden Dogecoin and Shaunnasaprilfool bring win percentages that keep this from being a total walkover.
Spoken Vow tops this field with an 87.08 TrackWiz rating — a full 26 points clear of the second-best horse — and that kind of separation in a claiming field at this level is hard to ignore. The 3/1 morning line is fair, meaning the market isn't completely asleep on this one either. Gaddiel A. Martinez gets the call for trainer Randall R. Russell, and a competent pilot-trainer combo in a one-mile dirt route suits a horse that projects as the quality standout. The career win percentage (6%) is modest, but the rating gap does a lot of the talking here.
Eastern Sunrise opens at 7/2 and checks in with a 61.11 rating, making him a legitimate bridesmaid candidate in a field where the top horse is well above the rest. Trainer John Fennessy also saddles She's the Rage, so he's double-dipping — and his barn clearly likes this spot. Walber Alencar has handled routes before and should keep Eastern Sunrise close enough to the pace to hit the board.
Shaunnasaprilfool at 4/1 is a sneaky inclusion for exotics — a 10% career win rate is solid by this field's standards, and trainer Michael C. Pappada's horse shows an average speed figure of 54, right in range with the top contenders. Martina Rojas in the irons keeps things professional. At a fair price, this one gives your trifecta tickets a grounded third leg.

A fascinating pace scenario sets up here — Kevin Rice runs the top two horses in our ratings from opposite sides of the program, and value hunters will want to look past the 5/2 morning-line favorite toward a Rice barn that could double-dip.
Gun Policy is the best-rated horse in this field at 82.71 and opens at a very workable 6/1 — that's a significant disconnect between our numbers and the oddsmaker's opinion, which is exactly where TrackWiz analysis finds its edge. Trainer Kevin Rice has this horse firing on all cylinders, and a 16% career win rate is the highest in the field among the top-rated runners. Huber Villa-Gomez is one of the more active riders on the Presque Isle circuit. At a mile and 70 yards on the dirt, Gun Policy's profile sets up well for a horse with real ability running at a generous morning line.
Youreawizard Harry is essentially a stable-mate situation — also trained by Kevin Rice — with an 81.54 rating and an 11% career win figure. The 4/1 morning line makes him the place pick with genuine upside, and a Rice barn that has two horses this well-rated doesn't point one and let the other run loose. Carlos Barbosa takes the mount and should get a clean trip on the outside of the gate.
Twist 'n Twirl is the morning-line favorite at 5/2, which makes this an interesting show play — the crowd money will be on this horse, but the 74.01 TrackWiz rating and a 3% career win percentage raise real questions about whether the betting support is fully justified. Regardless, a horse at 5/2 drawing public confidence should at least fill a board slot in a six-horse field, and Antonio A. Gallardo is a capable hand to keep it focused late.
Race 3

Traveller is the class of this seven-horse dirt route, but the longshot potential of Yoheda Money Maker at 10/1 makes the exacta and trifecta worth building around — trainer Julie Pierson has a capable horse hiding behind a big number.
Traveller owns the top rating in this field at 87.81 and goes at 5/2, which is a fair but not generous price for what amounts to a clear standout. The 8% career win rate isn't flashy, but in a seven-horse claimer at this level, it's about separation — and Traveller has it. Gaddiel A. Martinez, who also rides the top pick in Race 1, is having a productive night and pairs here with trainer Kimberly DePasquale, who double-entries with Speight the Snow in the same race. Martinez on the barn's better horse is a signal worth noting.
Yoheda Money Maker at 10/1 is the place pick and arguably the best value angle on the entire race card through three races. A 67.07 rating and 12% career win rate in a field where most horses are clustering in the 40-65 range puts this horse squarely in the mix. Trainer Julie Pierson isn't a barn that screams loud, but the numbers suggest this horse is ready, and Huber Villa-Gomez — active all night — can put it in position. Underneath Traveller in exacta and trifecta tickets, this is the horse to lean on.
Noble Star rates just a tick below Yoheda Money Maker at 67.01 and opens at 9/2, giving the show spot a horse with solid credentials for an each-way inclusion. Trainer Megan Reust sends this one out with Walber Alencar up, and the 6% career win figure is in line with several others here — the rating and the price make Noble Star a comfortable third in your exotics.
Our three free previews cover Races 1, 2, and 3 — all dirt routes, all claiming, and all worth your attention before the card heats up. Spoken Vow (Race 1, 3/1 morning line, 87.08 rating) opens the day as our first featured play, setting the tone on a track that should be playing honest under the summer sun. Gun Policy (Race 2, 6/1) is the most intriguing of the free trio — a 6/1 morning line with an 82.71 rating suggests the market may be underestimating this horse's recent form, and that kind of gap is exactly where value hides. Traveller (Race 3, 5/2, 87.81) rounds out the free card with our highest free-race rating of the day and a comfortable morning line that reflects legitimate favoritism.
With the dirt playing fast in this heat, pace pressure will matter in these mile-plus routes. Watch the early fractions closely — horses that get loose on the front end without a serious challenge have a real edge today.
